D&D is satanic. There are ways to exorcise its demons and return it to its original purpose of bringing glory to God, but most of you aren't ready for that conversation.

@MateyYanakiev You may be taking liberties with a rhetorical device aimed at parishioners whom he's attempting to rouse. They already share his faith That seems to be the audience. Not heretics or schismatics whom he would have to exegete against to convince of the meaning or presuppositions.

This is so based. Now let’s do the perspicuity of Sacred Scripture!

@KingMic92357513 @KalebAtlanta @ThePolemikOne The view that all the saints are impossible to understand, & that we cannot understand them independent of catechumen apologists & unauthoritative priests of simulacras of Orthodoxy is utter nonsense.

@HosannaHosannaa @forsman_josh Teaching there is no separation in the Trinity while simultaneously saying he took *every* punishment in His human nature vicariously that we *would* take including being forsaken or imputed with legal sinfulness is a contradiction to that first claim.

@ErickYbarra3 Stipulative definitions in conversations should be more precise not less. A theological 'umbrella term' for atonement theories should not encompass multiple worldview level philosophies about the metaphysics of the Trinity and Christology. The only utility is anthropological

Theological terms that, when received by various theologians and exegetes across time, have turned into umbrella terms. New Perspective on Paul Predestination Justification Real Presence of Christ Theosis Inerrancy of Scripture Ecclesiastical Primacy {add whatever} I’ll add one: PSA (Penal substitutionary atonement) - a theology that has they following A) God’s imposition of a punishment for sin B) humanity sins C) Christ , who never sinned, takes that punishment on behalf of sinners to satisfy the penal compensation required D) sinners are set free from the punishment If the Bible and the Fathers are explicit not just in use of language but their elaborate rationale properly contextualized, and they all uphold A through D, then my job is done. However that doesn’t mean there is only 1 theological construction of the same A through D. There are multiple constructs that can be made. Ergo, PSA is an umbrella term.

@ruckusofantioch @Just4Tweets1986 @IFFFMEISTER So, please respond with the copy paste. It doesn't change what I said above. All these fathers are correctly understood by the clergy within the Orthodox framework and not the nominalistic and overly forensic reformation, nor the feudalistic Anselmian model.

@ruckusofantioch @Just4Tweets1986 @IFFFMEISTER In fact, as often pointed out, it defies the correct reading of how Sin in the OT is expiated and how God is propitiated. Additionally, certain aspects, like imputation of righteousness, assume novel categories that never existed in the OT at all.

@YoungPenitent Honest question, how can you say you aren't storing up treasure on earth unless you spend or give away every penny before the day ends? Keeping money for tomorrow? Who promised you tomorrow? Same reasoning.

@forsman_josh Where does PSA posit this specifically as you claim? I’m yet to see this taught in any reformed confessions. They all teach there is no separation in the Trinity or Christ.

What you’ll notice from the “Anti-PSA” “Anti-Original Sin” crowd there’s never citations from the holy fathers or even citations of the supposed confession they’re attacking. It’s only ad homs, shifting goal post, or appeal to majority of online influencers lol

@ergelgru @paradeisoshodos @Canonandcreed @ErickYbarra3 We cannot get classical reformation apologists to enumerate the internal punishments in His Human Soul that Christ experienced (specifically) so that they may be examined for faithfulness to cappadocian and 6th ecumenical council teachings. This is avoided everytime asked.

Just an FYI their explanation is blatantly misleading Under PSA Jesus is impugned for our sin ie he must suffer the punishment of sin so that we do not, as they say However they claim Jesus was not “ literally damned, made odious, separated from God the Father” - but of course these are the punishments for sin, so if Jesus did not suffer then he was not treated judicially as a sinner. And of course this is the reformed teaching, very plainly, odd attempts to misrepresent the position here

Question for Lutherans/Calvinists In the below clip (minute 59 onward), Fr. Stephen de Young claims that the core of penal substitution is the idea that Christ died an internal spiritual death, the same death of soul Adam and Eve experienced through sin. @ruwal9 @benquivenit Fr Hopko is talking about an internal argumentative disposition that comes from trying to convince people all the time, not just telling people the truth in conversation. It builds up a will that hates being contradicted.

What takes like this miss is how devotedly and often passionately religious many of the early scientists were. Newton wasn't a 'respectable Anglican'. He was a fanatic scouring the Bible for cryptic prophecies. Blaise Pascal was a Jansenist who wore hairshirts. etc
