@Thompsonalysis @danriccio_ All I’m trying to say is that the soccer community is a tight knit community. If the owner sells out to an American owner that relocates, I’m not sure people in this market will be forgiving to line his pockets with supporting another one of his teams.

Greg Kerfoot sat back cashing expansion cheques while Major League Soccer ballooned to 30 teams… now that the tap’s slowing, he wants to cash out. Only spent when it was time to sell. Vancouver fans deserve way better.

@Thompsonalysis @danriccio_ To this day and 30 years later, people still remember Heisley’s name when he moved the Grizzlies. Trust matters. I don’t want this to hurt the rise, but I fear it inevitably will. Fans of both teams need to make noise for the best outcome

@DerekVL @danriccio_ why would it mean anything? they're owned by kerfoot but not part of the whitecaps. if anything the rise will have more money to spend after the sale.

A lot of people reading this wrong or misunderstanding me, so I want to be clear. Feel how you want. I support anyone who thinks that the Caps should stay in Vancouver. But, AS I UNDERSTAND IT, there are three options. 1. No buyer steps forward 2. A buyer who wants to stay in Vancouver steps forward 3. A buyer who wants to move the club steps forward I don’t think adding a hashtag to any unrelated soccer tweet is doing anything productive. Sorting through a ton of VCW posts when trying to find actual content was tedious. Answering people on that post has become more tedious. Call me names if that makes you feel better. Probably as good a use as your time as tweeting “save the caps” on a TFC availability report. Carry on, all, and have a great weekend.

@CanuckTarheel @ijajt_ I get what you’re saying, but the Whitecaps have invested heavily into the community and youth soccer. Losing them would set this community back years As for VFC, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be interested to go support a club led by one of the owners brothers.

@ijajt_ It's easy to say this from SW Ontario but people are reacting as if professional soccer will disappear if the Whitecaps leave. It would be sad if the Whitecaps name goes away & I fear the Rise may go away, but people there still have Vancouver FC & Pacific FC.

If people actually cared about soccer and supporting their local, instead of absorbing the prestige of MLS, it would not even be an issue that the Whitecaps are leaving. The community around that club shouldn't vanish instantly, but it will, and that's the sad part.

They CANNOT move the Vancouver Whitecaps. It’s a tragedy that American/Canadian sports teams are the only ones in the world who have to worry about their club moving. Could you imagine if Real Madrid moved to Mallorca? Manchester United moved to London? Inter Milan moved to Naples? It’s not fair to the fans that there’s a risk of losing their club. It’s absolutely sickening, and it shouldn’t be this way. SAVE THE CAPS
