As I type at 3.00pm, the power is still out, and there isn't loadshedding, but we are without electricity. City Power causes us more harm than good, because when Eskom is not loadshedding, outages occur and City Power takes forever to restore. Residents are tired and angry!

Other areas in the same parts of Honeydew (Block 11) have their lights on, but for us in these areas, even when we’re meant to get a reprieve from the lower LS stages, our power is always out. Today at 11.30am, I logged my 42nd call for the year for an unplanned outage.

TREND OF POWER OUTAGES ON THURSDAYS, FRIDAYS AND WHEN THERE IS NO PLANNED LOADSHEDDING IN THE AREA:To pay for power religiously every single month, and not have power for even half of the month is treacherous, and as a resident, I feel robbed. It seems like a deliberate ploy to keep the lights out on certain days and at certain times, to necessitate a call out for contractors to get work. It’s unclear why the same issues arise, but the root causes are the same. This is something we need you to look into PLEASE.

LONG TURNAROUND TIMES FOR RESTORATION: Communication from City Power's social media team on restoration efforts are lack luster. But most importantly, it often takes days to restore power back to these areas. Not clear why this is, but based on trends, it seems deliberate.

Outages in this area are weekly, sometimes every 2nd or 3rd day, and sometimes it is cable theft and other times, it is distributors tripping on earth fault. The root causes are the same, and the restoration efforts are band aided and are not permanent, as same issues occur.
