@Devdrummond44@SenatorsSession the same leaf fans who were clowned for supporting the core 4 as long as we did are now being told we ran them out of town. most of these idiots are being shown receipts of their marner hate and they have no response because they're disingenuous retards
Leaf fans chasing Marner out of town and him getting to the dance first rip out of leaf land will never not be funny. Good chance he puts the cherry on top with a ring and a conn smythe to go with it
@JohnPachec74492@espn Imagine a world where you can switch national teams in soccer. Beckham who spent his whole life in England faced death threats after the 1998 WC. Leaves England (who has a long trophy drought) and joins Brazil who are already stacked, and wins a world cup. It's pretty similar.
Mitch Marner hadn't made it past the second round in nine seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Now he's headed to the Stanley Cup Final while leading the league in postseason points (21) in his first season with the Vegas Golden Knights 💪
@SenatorsSession He wanted to leave. Just like marner. Im pointing out the stupidity that people say leafs fans claim marner was the problem. No leafs fan would want to lose a 100 point player. Its a fake narrative
@Devdrummond44 Nobody said he was the problem 😂 Corrupt ownership didn’t want to pay players. Team went to ECF Game 7 and they decided to tear the team down
@JasparColeman@espn well thats where we disagree. the city you spend your whole life is a part of your identity. also if marner cared about country loyalty more, he would have went to edmonton or montreal. ultimately he has no loyalty. like if beckham went to brazil.
@Devdrummond44@espn Well of course not because he'd be a Brit going abroad to win for another country. Again, this is why your comparison doesn't work. Country loyalty is far more than city loyalty
@GrumpaDotCA@Cweitz99 ya and then when matthews leaves and does well you'll say "wow toronto it looks like matthews wasnt the problem". we like our good players in toronto. it's only been fake narratives created by people living in shitty cities
@Devdrummond44@espn If you're trying to compare a hypothetical to an event, it has to be possible otherwise it is stupid. There is no point in your hypothetical because it would've never even been considered. And if it was possible? Who knows if he actually would've moved or not.
@MurdocNichols@OilerAnalytics lol its funny how Yugoslavias existence matches up almost perfectly with all of montreals cup wins. sure feels like a long time ago.
@GinoHard_ this is proof that it has nothing to do with marner. hes a great player. but he just plays on a more stacked team now. leafs couldnt afford to keep good players around when marner was taking up too much cap space. lots of blame goes to the leafs gms for sure
@MTLinNU@Rick874739@Algorit53131643@OilerAnalytics well hopefully danford, chadwick, villenueve but ya really wish they would improve their defense. not oblivious to that. montreal might need to look at their D as well. its better than the leafs D for sure, but both teams can't be getting outshot like this.
@JasparColeman@espn "not only is your hypothetical impossible" still means you dont understand hypotheticals. Marner spent his whole life (28 yrs) in the greater Toronto area and wears #93 for Gilmour cause his whole family were leafs fans. Its a historic franchise with a cup drought like Englands
@Devdrummond44@espn Your hypothetical was a comparison. For comparisons to work, they need to be comparable. Not only if your hypothetical impossible, city/team loyalty is nowhere near as strong as country loyalty for most athletes
@Rick874739@Algorit53131643@MTLinNU@OilerAnalytics another delusional leafs hater. we basically have a draft pick for every round but our "cupboards are empty" and no bright future yet we have knies, cowan, robertson, maccelli, hildeby, a bunch of marlies in the final 4 of ahl playoffs ALL under the age of 25. and now mckenna..
@Algorit53131643@MTLinNU@Devdrummond44@OilerAnalytics Lmfao “2 years ago” lmao
37 year old Chris Tanev and Morgan Reilly who you guys constantly want traded.
You call me clowded with hate but you lot can’t see how fucking delusional you are.
All of these young teams with great futures, and then there’s your team 😂🫵
@MichaelVSmith3@espn they did have a good team the past decade, but not the best out of 32 teams. a flat salary cap, being in a tough division, and bad luck with injuries caused them to struggle. then marner left the year the salary cap jumped and other teams were able to retain their top players
I thought Toronto was a stacked team, I mean we hear that every year. Trouble is Toronto is like Colorado you can have tons of offense but if you don't spend big money on defense you don't win. A team means every player buys in and plays their guts knowing their teammates respect them and know they will.
@Coalslawe@espn hes right to leave but any major team in sports with millions of fans is gonna have a few psychopaths. i dont think toronto is a city of inherently bad people lol.
@Devdrummond44@espn Sounds like a guy who didn't want to play for fans who'd post his family's address online to "pay him a visit" Good on him for getting his family out of there and thriving afterwards.
@_blvsphvmy@espn kadri got traded. kessels not from toronto. and people hated lebron for that but he went back and won cleveland their first championship.
