Même si on admet que le LiDAR rend une voiture 0,1 % plus sûre dans certains cas
À terme, les milliards de data qui vont faire avancer la robotique c'est pas grâce a LiDAR mdr, l’impact positif peut être infiniment plus grand avec le développement de la robotique que quelques points de sécurité en plus pour une voiture, sachant à quel point les tesla sont déjà ultra bien notées

OK d’accord mais il vend quand même des millions de voitures chaque année. Ces voitures (qui sont supposées devenir autonomes) sont sous-optimales à cause du refus de LiDAR. Même si c’est pas les voitures l’avenir de Tesla, ces voitures circulent aujourd’hui et continueront de circuler pendant les décennies à venir.
Enfin on ne se connait pas, donc on se vouvoie, merci bien.

En 2019 Elon Musk appelait le LiDAR "a fool's errand." En 2026 2 fabricants (un américain Ouster, un chinois Hesai) sortent à 2 semaines d'intervalle le premier LiDAR couleur natif de l'histoire. Géométrie 3D et couleur dans le même point, sans fusion logicielle, sans désynchronisation ! Google et Volvo sont dans les premiers adoptants.
Jusqu'ici un véhicule autonome devait fusionner LiDAR et caméra en post-traitement. Latence, désynchronisation, coûts. Ces capteurs encodent géométrie et couleur **dans le même point, par la physique**. Le problème disparaît en amont.
Le seul argument qui restait était le coût. Un LiDAR coûtait 30 000$ en 2019, il coûte qq centaines de dollars aujourd'hui.
L'obsession vision-only n'est plus du tout une thèse technique. C'est une position de marque, un choix idéologique hors-sol.
