Data centers are the new oil refineries of the AI age massive, power-hungry beasts that most people only notice when their electric bill spikes or the local river starts running hot. What they don’t see is the dual edge. These data centers are not just for chatbots or cat videos. These facilities are the literal backbone for the computational explosion that can deliver abundance, while some ground deployments are being executed like careless frontier mining operations. So I understand that some are coming through like a wrecking ball with no consideration to local power consumption. But the overall end goal is a self sustained economy that doesn't act on itself as a parasitic machine. Elon Musk approach is very altruistic. These data centers are the engine room for the next leap. training and running advanced AI models that power humanoids, autonomous systems, scientific breakthroughs, and the computational abundance that can reverse scarcity in energy, medicine, and manufacturing. People need to understand you can't want all these scientific advances and dream about these utopian society and ask yourself why we are not living like The Jetsons and throw rocks at the tools being built to have that type of futuristic society at the same time. Avoid being the modern day 19th century Luddites.

Gotta say that the treatment artists give one another in this space can be insanely bi-polar. The same voices I see pushing for the freedom of art, the beauty of blockchain, the decentralization of creativity - are sometimes the first to dog pile, to vilify, to demote the success of others- when the light isn’t shining upon them. It doesn’t go unnoticed and usually, if I’m straight up honest, it’s pretty apparent and incredibly self defeating 99% of the time. We shoot ourselves in the foot with our own self righteousness and close-mindedness. News flash: for as much brilliance as we have in this space, we - many of the times - play ourselves off as children in a schoolyard compared to the rest of the art world.

The digital art ecosystem is far too small to be so fragmented. It’s mostly ego and competing claims of impact or influence that pull people apart instead of bringing them together. We’d make real, substantive progress by being more collegial, collaborative and growing the space together.
