#CrimsonDesert patch Version 1.00.03 is rolling out.
This patch includes some of the improvements and fixes we were able to prepare first, including changes based on your feedback, like the addition of a Storage at Howling Hill and the beginning of improvements to keyboard and mouse controls.
Version 1.00.03 is available for download on Steam. PlayStation, Xbox, EGS, and Mac will follow at a later time, and we'll provide an update in the notice below as soon as they're available.
Read the patch notes here: pearlabyss.info/4sq1yEl
We are continuing to review and improve various gameplay elements based on your feedback and will bring you more fixed and improvements in subsequent updates! Thank you once again for the feedback and support.
We would like to address questions regarding the use of AI in Crimson Desert.
During development, some 2D visual props were created as part of early-stage iteration using experimental AI generative tools. These assets helped us rapidly explore tone and atmosphere in the earlier phases of production. However, our intention has always been for any such assets to be replaced, following final work and review by our art and development teams, with work that aligned with our quality standards and creative direction.
Following reports from our community, we have identified that some of these assets were unintentionally included in the final release. This is not in line with our internal standards, and we take full responsibility for it.
We also acknowledge that we should have clearly disclosed our use of AI. While these tools were primarily used during early production, with the expectation that these assets would be replaced prior to release, we recognize that this does not excuse the lack of transparency.
We sincerely apologize for these oversights.
We are currently conducting a comprehensive audit of all in-game assets and are taking steps to replace any affected content. Updated assets will be rolled out in upcoming patches. In parallel, we are reviewing and strengthening our internal processes to ensure greater transparency and consistency in how we communicate with players moving forward.
@Grummz Only super nerds have noticed this!! Its a fantasy game ffs! Theres habits, mechanics, dragons, magic and uber nerds are complaining, get a grip ffs!!
Crimson Desert apologize for AI art found in the game.

- These were 2D props used in "early-stage iteration using experimental AI generative tools."
- Used only to rapidly explore "tone and atmosphere in earliest phases of production.

@redslayerknows@CrimsonDesert_ Ive deleted it to be on the safe side, I remember not long after the PS5 came out there a game that could brick your console, ive had some rotten luck with playstation 5s, my first 2 wouldn't power on for more than 30 seconds, im not risking again haha
@Olasope7@CrimsonDesert_ This has been haloening to me today, switching to performance mode has worked but im not risking bricking my Pro for this game, I'll uninstall until its fixed
@redslayerknows@CrimsonDesert_ This is happening to me all the time in balanced mode, switching to performance has made it stable but im not sure I want to risk my Pro any further playing this
@CrimsonDesert_ You got more pressing matters with fixing the state of the game, you do know the games is causing ps5 and pro versions to hard crash and making users repair or rebuild the database because of your game.
@CrimsonDesert_ Who actually cares about this, its a fantasy world, so artwork and painting that seem weird, are in fact totally in keeping with the world, what you need to work on, is the bug that keeps crashing my PS5 pro when im on balanced mode and open the map, its made the game unplayable
Impressions of Crimson Desert after 12 hours:
- People were right: This game gets MASSIVELY better after 6-8 hours of playtime, Chapter 3 onwards is a massive step up in terms of quest quality and finally lets you loose to explore as you get past the onboarding phase, I am loving it.
- Played 6+ hours straight today and I am itching to play even more, Exploration is a blast and has some of the best sense of discovery I've felt in a game since Elden Ring, this is an incredibly well made open world that I want to explore more so badly. I've found so many cool places that I don't wanna spoil
- Controls feel natural at this point as well, aside from square being both interact and jump, I am okay with them atp.
- I adore how interactive the world feels, the NPCs are not "alive" but they do sell that illusion fairly well, I have spent a ton of time stealing and sneaking into castles to take all their food for heals, and weapons to sell. Also spent a ton of time doing bounties which feel identical to the Red Dead 2 bounties, a great system.
- Main quests have actually gotten fun, with interesting scenarios rather than the generic fetch quests that drag down the first 6 hours of this game. The writing is still not good but I am at least interested in the idea of the plot now.
- "Reed devil" and "Excavator" boss fights were both fantastic, It's super important to stock up on food before taking on bosses for heals however, so I am now buying food at every possible chance
- Side quests quality varies but for the most part, they really are the highlight of the game for me.
- While the game is beautiful in clear weather, it feels like most of the time its overcast and the visuals look really drab and quite poor in this weather. Also rain is far too rare in my opinion.
- I have not had any game breaking bugs so far, been a smooth experience aside from 1 bug where my Kliff is seemingly never tired, so I am barred from sleeping in my game for some reason.
Literally itching to play more tomorrow, Crimson Desert is a flawed game but god does it hit that open world exploration itch for me so well. It's absolutely worth sticking with if you love these types of games!
@ChrisHarte7@Dee_Batch My TV specifically supports VRR, I use it all the time, the internal settings say HDR on and VRR on.....maybe its a compatability problem with the game, all my other run smooth as butter
On my PS5 Pro I turned OFF V-Sync, that’s when VRR turns on in Crimson Desert. As soon as I turned V-Sync off I was able to turn on balanced mode and my FPS count went WAY UP!! My balanced mode now performs like performance mode on my TV!!.. #CrimsonDesert#VRR#PS5Pro
@Telepathic_hman@CrimsonDesert_ Ive had the same issue on my Samsung QLED, HDR makes it too dark and borderline unplayable, ive had to turn 120hz off as well as HDR
@CrimsonDesert_ Please address these issues, I love the game but having to downgrade my performance in ps5 pro settings just so the game looks clear and sharp with no blur even with motion blur turned off shouldn't have to happen.

@DigsAndDust@AI_EmeraldApple I don't usually cheat on puzzles. Happy to have them take 5-6 sessions to figure out.
Riven I eventually speed-ran the later 3/4ths while reading the solutions on another screen.
How???
It was the first tutorial puzzle, basically has 3 elements to manipulate, and it should be pretty intuitive just looking at the whole setup of it. I finished it in about 5 minutes...
I guess it is more difficult than single-element type puzzles in games like dragon age veilguard, but this really isn't that bad...
This was nothing compared to the more brutal puzzles on the 90's games.
