With over 25 years of experience in education, Dr. De La Cruz has built a career rooted in equity, access, and opportunity. Her journey includes serving as a middle school teacher in Kansas, an education trainer for the Peace Corps in the Philippines, an English as a Second Language (ESL) coordinator in New York City, and Deputy Director of English Language Learners in the South Bronx. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to students and families—especially in communities where equity work matters most. Dr. De La Cruz is known for fostering welcoming, affirming, and approachable school environments, ensuring that every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed. Beyond her professional work, she is also an avid runner, showing the same discipline and dedication in her personal life that she brings to education. Women like Dr. De La Cruz remind us that strong schools build strong communities.
