I really hate this on multiple levels. It feels deceptive to take a model, give it a corporate brand identity and then try to hide the underlying model.
This is like turning up to work and seeing your roommate wearing a false moustache pretending to be someone else.

absolutely terrible response. grok build shipped whole repos (including git history and secrets) to a cloud bucket. marketed "local-first". the opt-out didn't even stop it. absolutely shameless. and all it took to catch this was someone routing grok through a network proxy. this is the entire case for open infrastructure.

@Dirbles_ No, I expect them to be transparent about the AI models they are using. If I know a prompt is working well, I want to know what model it works on and so I know when to test it again if they swithc the model on me

Updates to GPT-5.6 reasoning context
One of the quieter but more significant GPT-5.6 updates I'm excited to have played a part in is that reasoning context is preserved across turns, giving:
- better KV cache hit rate - reduces latency and cost
- less repeated reasoning on long-running tasks
- stronger follow-up behavior in complex environments when a task depends on prior hidden thinking

This is a good demonstration of how labs’ APIs often drop previous turns’ (i.e. before the last user message) reasoning. Upside is that it acts as continual compaction. Downsides are repeating reasoning + breaking cache. This is enforced in OpenAI Responses API.

i have a strong feeling that the default model for random conversations with openclaw and hermes should be gpt-5.6-luna on max
- luna's costs scale down to ~0 when the task is easy
- it can bump it's own reasoning to almost level of 5.6-sol on high
terra is a weird place, according to deepSWE at least
there is one caveat though: neither openai does not serve max reasoning to 5.6 family via subscription, so i guess i will stick to luna xhigh for now and check if that will suffice
