This pastor is just a typical legalistic IFB preacher who has not read any scholarly Spurgeon biographies. If he had, he'd know that history tells a different story: Spurgeon smoked right up until his death in 1892, with his family even preserving his final half-smoked cigar as a memento. (Spurgeon's last cigar is on display in Kansas City at the Spurgeon Center at Midwestern Seminary.) ​Spurgeon didn't smoke out of "Ignorance"; he was famously criticized by the vocal anti-tobacco movements of his day and doubled down, arguing that enjoying a cigar in moderation was a matter of Christian liberty and a way to relax his mind for ministry. ​If we start defining "sin" based solely on modern health risks, we’d have to put double-bacon cheeseburgers, sleep deprivation, and a lazy lifestyle in the same moral category as theft or lying, which would make most of us "sinners" by lunchtime. In fact, if you want to use "unhealthy habits" as the metric for sin, Spurgeon was also significantly overweight. Does this pastor consider a second helping of mashed potatoes a sin, or just the cigar?

Kentucky finishes 9th in the SEC standings, at 10-8. Their worst conference finish in program history. Since the inception of the SEC in 1932, Kentucky has only finished outside of the top 5 six times. It has happened three times since 2020, including two consecutive seasons.
