Like every other SNP parliamentarian, I gave the party £250 per month from my personal income after tax. Adding my party membership fees (paid at an enhanced rate) , I think it came to £35,000 over ten years. The £250 sub was an obligation for all MPs and MSPs, but I was happy to pay, as I believed it was going to the cause - not to keep Sturgeon in Smythson handbags and Mountblanc pens (stolen goods she was pictured with in this @TheSun report 👇). I had a good salary. But what of all the decent working people - as @joannaccherry pointed out today - who could ill afford the £10 or £20 donations they made to @theSNP ? It’s disgusting, and requires an internal investigation. Or rather an independent investigation. Who was monitoring the spend within the SNP? How come the former volunteer treasurer and former volunteer officials who questioned the finances were slapped down by @NicolaSturgeon and her acolytes? There remain good people at the top of the party ( of which I remain a member BTW) and I hope they will now abandon their misplaced loyalty to the former leader whose position meant she signed off the accounts, as I understand it. Finally…..well done to @WingsScotland for triggering the investigation - pilloried from all sides but vindicated today.

The problem, Iona, with this theory is that Nicola was not only his wife. She was his boss. And the money was stolen from the organisation she effectively was in charge of. And she on several recorded occasions, deterred people interrogating the accounts of that organisation.

Aamer Anwar has sent Scottish media a very threatening-sounding letter today warning them that if they don’t moderate any comments making defamatory allegations about Nicola Sturgeon, he’s been instructed to “consider” legal action and/or complaints to IPSO. Ooh, scary.

I once lived on the outskirts of Bradford where new “firebrand” Green MSP Iris (Nyall) Duane hails from; but his high school was in Honley, south of Huddersfield and his 6th Form College in Greater Manchester. Quite a commute. He didn’t get into Oxford or the New College of Humanities (private university founded by AC Grayling) as he had once hoped - Holyrood’s gain because if he hadn’t come to Glasgow we would not now have Iris Duane MSP. Funny how things work out.

What saves her in law is that she didn't know. But unless he was concealing it all physically, what condemns her as a serious person is that she didn't notice. And her treatment of people who asked awkward questions about the money is, awkwardly, also now forever on her record.

She was LITERALLY responsible. She was his boss. She personally signed off the accounts. What an unstoppable dolt Given is.

The pot of money Peter Murrell pilfered from was NOT comprised solely of SNP members' money. It came from three chief sources. (1) SNP members - subs, donations etc. (2) UK taxpayers, the vast bulk of the SNP's income. (3) Non-SNP donors to the "ringfenced indyref fund". All of that money was swept into the SNP coffers, from whence Murrell trousered it. Every pound he took came in part from each of those sources. So in fact he robbed ALL of us, not just SNP members. The fact that the party has spent the *entirety* of the "ringfenced" indyref fund, on stuff that is not a second indyref, is an entirely separate issue over and above Murrell's crimes.

And what about all the people you smeared for telling the truth?
