“Biological Girls Only” in a VALORANT tournament… The whole reason I love competing in esports rather than actual sports is because there is no biological advantage/disadvantage to playing video games. So I don’t understand the reasoning behind excluding trans women in this.

I’m confused about the reasoning behind allowing men into women-only tournaments. How do people justify that while still protecting fair competition and space for women?

if i may add my two pence to the “girls only” valorant tournament i am seeing on my TL (as the person that created women in esport’s lioness cup and has plenty of TO exp)- it’s clear there’s a real demand for more grassroots tournaments in the women’s VALORANT space, but also some education needed on what’s truly inclusive. excluding minority groups can actually harm the community, despite this being an attempt to engage with it. as a TO - be clear in how you communicate with your community (so they know what to expect) - but most importantly, be open to feedback, instead of shutting those voices down.

The best female gamer I've ever seen is trans: Scarlett from Starcraft2. At her peak she was as good as top males. How likely is it that the only relevant female pro-gamer in the history of gaming happens to be biologically male? The trans population is much smaller. And I'm sure they get as much harassed/discriminated against as girls, if not more? And I'm sure Scarlett also didn't have any trans pro gamer role models to look up to as a child? So my conclusion is that women are simply worse at top level gaming. Slower reaction time. The period. But most importantly: Women are MUCH less likely to accept degenerate lifestyles like playing 14h per day and having cup noodles & Monster Energy every meal.

@DisturbedJawker @Thorin 20ms reaction speed difference, and all else equal, will result in a better player. It’s absolutely not irrelevant and it is absolutely not just reaction time. Hand eye coordination, decision making under pressure, etc. There are differences and they matter, even if they’re small

@BansheeDsv @Thorin This is not a realistic argument. There's no player that is fully equal to another, minus a 20 ms reaction speed. The other things you mentioned are not biological differences. They're trained. ( reaction time is also trained to an extent )

@Linahuaa I find it difficult to believe you played so much but never experienced sexism. I've hit top 1% in various games including top 2k on Europe in dota and in almost every instance of seeing a woman in my games she was harassed.

I was top 20 EU Hearthstone and went to local tournaments. Top 1 Demonhunter EU in Diablo Immortal and in the best guild of my server. Top ~1% WoW player. Diamond in Halo with my male classmates. I started LoL quite late and was shit (mid gold), but I didn't get more insults than guys of equivalent level of suck
