@houlden2020 To be specific, the other series with one or fewer episodes in between matchups are Marvel, DC, Dragon Ball, Sonic the Hedgehog, TMNT, Street Fighter, and The Legend of Zelda.
Though the latter four all happened < Season 4, and Dragon Ball’s was separated by the 2024 hiatus.

People argue blue because reaching a 50% threshold is easier to reach that a 100% threshold. Completely changing the percentage thresholds materially changes the rationale for voting blue.

RE: Red button vs blue button. Change the percentage from 50% to 99%. If 99% of the people press blue, then everyone is saved. If you press red you are saved no matter what. See how that affects your personal decision and the outcome of the poll.

I watched 2 videos of people disecting Beast Games and the problems of the games in them and what stuck out to me but was largely unsaid was that the whole show seems to hinge on MrBeast viewing humans as greedy backstabbing misanthropes and the games break down when they aren't

@ShiraKage__ It's true for the Chimera Ant arc as well; the ones who ultimately "defeat" Meruem end up being Palm, Ikalgo, and Welfin, and Bloster of all characters gets a huge emotional moment at the end. "There are no small stories or unimportant people" is a major thesis for HxH

To clarify, I think *good* hard powerscaling includes proper narrative/character analysis. There can be (and is) *bad* hard powerscaling, just as there can be *bad* soft powerscaling

Note the concentricity; despite the powerscaling community's (mostly self-inflicted, tbf) reputation for "only caring about numbers", I think hard powerscaling does include proper narrative/character analysis.

Coming into the powerscaling discourse with my "I think it depends" hat.
The big issue is that, as it so often goes on the Internet, people are using two different definitions of the same word to talk past each other; I made a diagram to chart what I think is actually going on.

Also I should note there is a third type of powerscaling, tentatively called "meme" powerscaling; it's a bit tougher to define as it can include story analysis (gag characters always win), hard calcs (taking game mechanics literally), and pure fan expression (jokes and slander).

It just, in addition, includes figuring out how heavy that boulder that character pushed one time is, because figuring that out (and being shocked when the answer is "much heavier than you thought") is fun.
