@AmiDar besides negotiation, one needs to have experience in the region doing it - understand how they see things, what they value, etc when negotiating - imposing a Western attitude on the negotiations is a sure way to fail - they understand Western weaknesses & know how to respond

Many years ago, a friend who is a corporate lawyer taught me that negotiation is a profession—an art that one learns over years and decades of doing it daily. Long way of saying: I am not sure that Vance has a clue or a chance against the Iranians.

@SethAbramson Israel doing what Israel does best: terrorising young  boys so they grow up devoted to becoming militants  against Israel - Israel is the annual winner of the "Militant Recruiter of  the Year" award for its great achievements in creating  militants every year

Lebanon has a population half that of London. The Israelis have caused *8,000 casualties* in Lebanon since the start of last month. 20%+ of civilians have had to flee their homes. The IDF is doing al Qaeda-style follow-up strikes that are killing and maiming first responders.

@OlgaNYC1211 the US taxpayer gives billions each year to the Zionist regime engaging in State Sponsored Terrorism - genocide in Gaza, settler terrorists in West Bank - Israel was founded by terrorists & US has given 300 billion of taxpayer $$ to them

@toniprzy @JohnMappin damn right Israel is to be hated: what US ally entices a US citizen to betray his country to spy on his country for the so called "ally"? ISRAEL - & the US taxpayer gives billions to this odious country that spies on its benefactor - Israel is NO ally of the US

@Ron_Skolnik the Asshole in Chief is precisely in this losing predicament because he is arrogant & thus incapable of learning new things so he will keep losing & lose bigly in Nov - he refuses to understand that Gov is NOT corporate business & intl relations are not property deals

The "have no cards" line has been used repeatedly by Trump, not just with regard to Iran. It's not as effective as he seems to think it is. And it also indicates that he still doesn't grasp that int'l relations are more complicated, less quantifiable, than bu$iness deals.

@ChannaSam1927 @neeratanden Russia & Zionists share an evil, morally bankrupt ideology: they have the right to steal the homes / property of others & right to kill / obliterate all to do it - Ukrainians & Palestinians are Freedom Fighters against that evil / moral bankruptcy fighting for their homes

@neeratanden This is 100% wrong. This is your excuse for rampant antisemitism. You can’t rewrite geopolitical realities in the Middle East. Iran still wants to destroy Israel, but now Israel, a powerhouse, defends itself. No, a more liberal PM would not turnover Israel to savages.

There is good reason to worry about the safety of our negotiators in Pakistan. The country is armed and dangerous and the government is not fully in control. Previous high level visits were short and they involved decoy aircraft, as when then-President Clinton surreptitiously changed airplanes so no one would know which one he was on. The USSS did not like President Bush going there in 2006. The Secret Service will be tested this trip. So too will the military that supports this mission. Pray for the safety of our negotiators, including the VP, and for their success.

🚨MAJOR REVELATION: Tucker Carlson just reported something the Pentagon won’t discuss publicly. IDF officers maintain permanent offices inside the Pentagon. And inside the CIA. Permanent. Tucker asked the question out loud that Washington won’t answer: Who is actually running this?

@allenanalysis @SpiritOf1776X Fake news. All allies from Germany to Japan to Israel have liaison officers but not offices. Amazing how dumb people are to believe anything out of Carlson's mouth, given the number of times he's been exposed lying.

@allenanalysis Here’s a wild idea to avoid getting bombed: Don’t host terrorists in your country, and leave Israel alone. Middle East solved. Look at that wall between Egypt and Gaza. Wow it's Yuge. I wonder why.

@bro1_SM @LevineJonathan if you have to steal the homes of people living in them for decades or engage in ethnic cleansing to create a state, then there is no justification for or right to a state - to think there is is pure moral bankruptcy

No the situation exists because Israel is the historic and sacred territory of the indigenous Jewish people. And because, like all peoples, the Jews have the right to self determination wherein they live and protect their natural culture fully - language, holidays, calendar, history.. etc.

A Jewish State is a nation where Jews are the permanent majority population — just like Japan for Japanese or Iceland for Icelandic This situation is necessitated by two millennia of historic persecution Jews have faced in nations where they have been in the minority

I hope those advising the U.S. President are making the following points clear: 1. Iran sees itself as having achieved a significant strategic gain. From its perspective, if its terms are not met, there will be no meeting in Islamabad, even at the cost of renewed escalation. 2. Iran is unlikely to reopen the straits without a full ceasefire, which it believes was promised, even under pressure or threats. 3. Tehran has no intention of offering new concessions beyond what has already been discussed with the U.S. It views itself as negotiating from a position of strength, so why concede more? 4. The “Axis of Resistance” operates as an interconnected system. As long as fighting continues in Lebanon, Shiite militias in Iraq and potentially the Houthis, are likely to remain engaged. Iran does not see itself as having been defeated. It did not seek these negotiations, and it is unrealistic to expect concessions at the table if, in its own assessment, it has not conceded on the battlefield.

Live from @DNC Meeting in New Orleans: We are glad to see the @DNC's Resolutions Committee's rejection of two resolutions related to Israel, both of which were out of step with the policies of the Democratic Party, as codified in the 2024 Democratic Party Policy Platform. We're grateful to DNC Chair Martin for establishing the Middle East Working Group last year, and agree with the decision of the Resolutions Committee to refer these resolutions to the Working Group for discussion as opposed to adoption. We oppose both resolutions, and are pleased to see their overwhelming rejection by the Committee. With regard to the resolution on AIPAC, we were also pleased with its defeat in the Resolutions Committee. We agree with the rejection of dark money in politics -- a topic covered in another more expansive resolution adopted by the Committee -- but also believe that singling out any individual organization is both unproductive and unnecessarily divisive.
