Thank you to everyone who attended the Funeral and made the walk. It was cold, windy and snowing but it was a special moment in the Holtz Family life.

Bill’s innovations for helmets, multilayer firesuits and belts set the bar for all forms of Motorsports; but those creations pale in comparison to how much he truly cared about the competitors, crews and officials. I never heard him say no when someone asked for help for safety🙏
NASCAR Legends@LegendsNascar

Bill Simpson would have been 86 today #RIP Racer and safety pioneer Bill Simpson introduced the parachute to drag racing and the Nomex firesuit to motorsports. He would sometimes light himself on fire to demonstrate the effectiveness of his firesuits. 🔥

It's not being falsely modest, simply because I had nothing to do with it, but I'm gonna brag on brother Jim and his "forgotten" ACC championship. Everybody knows about the 1983 SURVIVE AND ADVANCE team. But in 1987, State entered the ACC tournament (in Landover Md.) as the 6 seed. Beat Duke in OT in first round, beat Wake in DOUBLE OT in semis, then beat UNC who was 16-0 in ACC games, ranked #2, 68-67 for championship. An OT, a 2OT, and a one point win over undefeated team. For the championship. That's kinda dramatic too, no?

What wonderful words and special tribute to a man who was far more than just a football coach. There are hundreds of former players and colleagues who share the sadness of his loss but embrace the memory of how he touched so many of our lives. Well said @JeromeBettis36
Jerome Bettis@JeromeBettis36

There are moments in life when words just aren’t enough. Losing Coach Holtz is one of those moments. Coach was so much more than a football coach to me. He was family. I still remember the day he came to my house to recruit me. He didn’t just sit down and talk to me about football or what I could do on the field. He talked to me as a young man. And he spoke to my mom the way a man should speak to a mother who was trusting someone with her son. He looked her in the eye and promised that I would be taken care of at Notre Dame. That moment meant everything to us, and it’s something I’ve carried with me my entire life. Coach Holtz believed in people. He believed in building men, not just players. He welcomed my entire family into the Notre Dame family and always made sure we felt that love and support. That’s who he was. He cared deeply about the people around him, and he made every one of us feel like we mattered. The lessons he taught me went far beyond football. His faith, his discipline, his belief in doing things the right way shaped who I became as a man, a father, and a leader. My heart is broken today, but I’m also filled with gratitude for the time I had with him and for the impact he had on my life. Coach will always be with us—in the lessons he taught, in the lives he changed, and in the love he gave so freely. Thank you for everything, Coach. I love you. You will forever be in our hearts. Go Irish ☘️

Loved those wingtips and that Goodyear hat! Dave did it all w minimal to no budget. Not sure I ever met anyone in the garage who didn’t like or respect him! He was part of a special era in our sport!

Happy Birthday Dave Marcis. 🎂 Dave raced mostly as an independent owner/driver. There have been few in NASCAR history that have done more with less. Dave holds the record for the most Daytona 500 starts with 33. 🏁

Loved how he could morph into the Harry Hogg (Hyde) character so easily. The facial expressions and the slang/dialect were perfect. Off set, he seemed to be one of nicest and most humble people I ever met. So kind, so talented; may he RIP. 🙏

Hey Chris. Wishing you the very best w your dialysis. So nice to hear those old telecasts still provide some entertainment or maybe distraction for those who watch them. We didn’t have some of bells & whistles networks have today; but we shared our passion for a sport we loved🏁
