How many offseasons do Colts fans need to watch before realizing this is just the beginning? Yes, the roster has holes (not saying they’ll all get filled), but it’s way too early to project starters and panic. Players get cut all the way through camp and preseason. Relax.

Pittman has atleast shown in his career numbers and consistency to be the #1 guy.
Pierce in his BEST year was still below average in everything except deep ball routes.

@DocSanchu Who else is that money going to? What other young players are due to be paid soon? You have to look at the entire roster in context..you also dont just "find a deep threat in the draft" that skill set is not easy to find especially outside of round 1

This Colts offense without Alec Pierce could be a complete train wreck next season.
He alone allowed Daniel Jones to be a competent downfield thrower and soften defenses for the underneath game to have success.
Without him defenses are going to be absolutely packing the box.

@JakeElrod44 I guess we r on different sides of what needs to happen. I want to blow the whole thing up. We shoukd be trading JT, Buckner, Sauce, Ward, and be a bottom 5 team for a few years. We have no draft capitol and we are stuck in the mediocre category. Sadly this won't happen.

@JakeElrod44 Don't disagree but you still can't overpay that position. You just can't give #1 WR money to a role player WR. It sucks but that's where we are. Find a deep threat in the draft....

@DocSanchu You can call him a role WR all you want but next year when teams are squeezing the box and our underneath recievers have no room to operate and Jones is consistently throwing into tighter windows reality will hit very quickly

@DocSanchu If thats what you gathered from this post then you are way off. Nowhere in this am I inferring Pierce is a #1 reciever but he is an elite downfield threat that allows Jones to be a competent deep ball thrower and open up space underneath for guys like Warren and Downs

@FeuxManning All true. So don't bring back pierce. Use the year to unload bad contracts, if you can get out of signing jones, sign geno or Kyler and tank for 3-5 years and rebuild slow

Holy smokes are the Colts in trouble the more I think about it.
-No starting quarterback signed on the roster. 1 who likely won’t be out there week 1
-No first round pick for 2 years
-no cap space
-have to pay Pierce Jefferson/Chase type money because the will never replace his production

So to recap: The Colts decided that the QB who is coming off of his one good season AND a torn Achilles is their guy. But they couldn’t re-sign said QB in time, thus placing the transition tag on him. And in the process leave their best WR in-protected. Chris Ballard, folks.

Mike Tomlin is EXACTLY the type of HC the Colts need. He is a tone setter, a no BS coach, that has won a SB, and division titles in a tough division. I hope he takes the year off, and if the Colts suck next year, bring him to Indy. Miss me with the playoff losses crap, this team can't even make the playoffs or win the damn division. He has won a SB, there is proof of concept with him.
