According to Italian outlet La Repubblica, Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti is keen to make Salah the marquee addition to his new-look side following the Egyptian’s departure from Liverpool after nine trophy-laden years at Anfield. Salah and Spalletti share history together during their time together at Roma from early 2016 until the Egyptian’s move to Liverpool in the summer of 2017. Just to add to the chaos I'm now being told by multiple sources from different parties that canvass returns for Makerfield show Restore significantly outperforming the 7% revealed in the Times poll. I suspect that's what's underpinning the current Reform meltdown.

I was the Labour councillor for Blakelaw and Cowgate and lost the recent election to Reform UK by just 22 votes. I accepted the result. That is democracy. What I did not expect was what came afterwards. Since the election, my family and I have experienced abuse, hostility, personal attacks and even vandalism. Most recently, a political social media post contained false claims about my involvement in the community and local organisations. The claim was later removed, but not before it had already been seen and shared. Blakelaw and Cowgate is not just a ward to me. It is my home. My family lives here. My children have grown up here. We have spent years supporting local residents, community groups and grassroots football because we care deeply about this community. What hurts most is the impact on my family. My children have asked why things have changed so much since the election. As a parent, it is heartbreaking to see them worried and upset because of things being said about their mother. When false information is published, it does not just affect the person targeted. It affects their husband, their children and the people who love them. It makes you wonder how much more hostility your family will have to face simply for trying to serve your community. I am proud of everything my family and I have done for Blakelaw and Cowgate. Despite everything, this is still our home, and I will continue supporting the community I care so deeply about.

No there will not be an early election. A man with 400 seats will not risk half of them three years early to satisfy columnists’ belief in mandate fairies.

It is insulting to every working class family to suggest that it’s somehow part of our culture to be vile, nasty and sexist and that anyone appalled at the Reform candidate in Makerfield’s comments is somekind of middle class pearl clutcher.

So Reform have gone from demanding an early election to desperately trying to stop one because they think they’ll lose. And they admit Andy Burnham really is so popular nationally he’ll be able to reverse Reform’s surge and win for Labour.

OK, I know I’ll get savaged again. But if you look at Nigel Farage’s attack on Musk, Kruger’s comments about his own Makerfield candidate and Goodwin’s tweet, it’s pretty clear Reform are currently experiencing some sort of mini-nervous breakdown.

I am delighted to report I have been re-selected to fight the by-election in my ward brought about by the resignation - 11 days in - of the Reform candidate. It will be a tough campaign - but High Fell deserves better than an 11-day wonder. Wish me luck…!

Nigel Farage has cancelled both of the Press events that were scheduled for today in Makerfield. He is refusing to have any interaction with the media, in particular any TV.

And here's the next stage of this whole shambles. You will now see Nigel Farage's supporters taking to social media to attack the head of the community space who sent the letter to him. Which will in turn create additional anger amongst local people who use and enjoy that space.
