pakistani banks are actually funny; went to UBL to withdraw 3m from my sister’s acc and first they tried to convince me that i should j open an account w them and when i refused i got treated so poorly. then i went to HBL to deposit the same 3m in my own account and here i didnt wait in the queue, sat in the managers office and he did everything, brought chai, and exchanged number in case i ever want a loan. and i know theyll also treat me like ubl the day i go there to cashout my money.

Every other person today is an expert on inflation armed with one tool: interest rates. The holy grail. The only lever. Almost divine.
Reality check: an economy isn’t one-dimensional.
Inflation can come from demand AND supply.
But nuance doesn’t sell.
Here is the irony they miss:
Tight monetary policy + loose fiscal policy (hello Pakistan) = policy schizophrenia.
You press the brake and the accelerator at the same time and then wonder why nothing works.
The real problem?
Fixing supply energy, productivity, governance - is hard. Painful. Requires actual work.
So we choose the elegant shortcut:
Raise interest rates.
Attend MPC.
Have tea and biscuits.
Deliver a rate hike.
Congratulate yourselves.

See this is the prime example of Sarkari Nokars ruling us. They get paid by us (the public) and then they try to control us. There’s absolutely no law which forbids people to film in public but here some “babu” of railway who’s salary is paid by the people that he would not like to see people complain about third class quality of the trains and the terrible infrastructure.

First truck from Kyrgyzstan has arrived at Sost Dry port in Pakistan with transit goods successfully bypassing Afghanistan. This is the first ever such movement by any Commonwealth of Independent States [CIS country] on their transport 🇰🇬 🚛 🇵🇰
This movement carried out by NLC partner company in Kyrgyzstan. It is a big milestone achieved, paving the way for enhanced connectivity & trade.
