Ok I need some unbiased opinions…
My son used to play on a YMCA rec league baseball team. It was free through our school, very chill, and everyone got to play. This year, his Y team decided to join a club baseball league (non traveling). It costs over $300. Our coach is continuing to let everyone play equal time, regardless of skill, and putting players in positions they are legitimately terrible at. My son is by far the best player on the team (trust me, I’m more critical of my kids than anyone). He sits at least one inning every game. His best positions are catcher, pitcher, and short stop…but the majority of the time coach puts him in outfield etc, so other kids have a “chance”. I was chatting with one of the other moms of a talented player, and we agreed that this is total BS. If you want to play in a league that isn’t serious and allows everyone to try lots of positions regardless of talent, you should’ve stayed in the YMCA. No one should be paying hundreds of dollars to watch their team lose because the coach wants to be “fair to everyone”. What do y’all think? FYI, you can disagree, but if you’re a d*ck, you’ll be blocked. 😘
