Name a country apart from your own that you previously had respect for, but lost it because of the pandemic?
I’ll go first: AUSTRALIA
I thought it was such a cool country, but their shenanigans lockdowns and mandates were unforgivable
We went to a dinner as a group and had a $500 bill. We tipped $40. We were happy we can be able to give our server something, but her reaction was the opposite. She told us she assumed we're going to give her at least $120. When we asked for the manager, she said she was just joking, but she wasn't smiling at all. Idk, but is $40 tip enough for $500 bill? I just feel like expecting $120 is not realistic.

@EricLDaugh The rapist felon won't see a pound of British money from the BBC. It'll just be another in the long line of defeats for the TACO. If it even gets to court.
🚨 BREAKING: The BBC is REELING right now, facing a $1-$5 BILLION dollar lawsuit from President Trump
Trump has already gained $25M from YouTube, Meta, $10M from X, and $16M from CBS and ABC
The BBC is next!
The British taxpayer will help fund the Trump Presidential Library 🔥
The elections that were held yesterday were ILLEGAL.
Polls went down in Pennsylvania.
Voting machines stopped working in Ohio.
Bomb threats were made in New Jersey.
Republicans are openly BLOCKED from voting.
America's entire election system is a fraud.
Here ya go, this is why air-traffic controllers and other federal workers didn't receive a paycheck today:
Healthcare for Illegals: $182,000,000,000
Transgender for All: $97,500,000,000
DEI Abroad: $45,000,000,000
Liberal News Bailouts: $12,000,000,000
Climate Handouts: $140,000,000,000
Activist Kickbacks: $125,000,000,000
Misc. Radical Policies $898,500,000,000
That's $1.5 TRILLION in woke bullshit they want taxpayers to shell out. NO!
Family in Houston, Texas, put a Halloween display up that has two MAGA mannequins, wearing red hats, being hanged from gallows topped by a Mexican flag.
This hateful display will likely be inciting violence.
It goes past free speech. Arrest who did this.
@beyoncegarden I strongly support "no phones while in class" but I do think that students should have access to their phones during break times if they want.
@CollinRugg I agree with most of this. Absolutely there should be no phones in class, I fully support that. But during breaks, I think it should be no different from most workplaces. Breaks are *my* time not my employer's time. I'm not being paid while on a break.
NEW: Schools across the country are requiring students to lock their phones in a phone pouch for the entire school day, can unlock the pouch at the end of the day.
Teachers and principals say phones in the classroom are becoming too much of a distraction.
“The last couple years, we left it up to the teachers to kind of govern their classrooms,” said Danville High School Principal Jacob Bretz.
“We were just running into the constant battle that temptation of that phone being accessible in the pocket, wondering do I have a message, feeling the notifications go off and the urge to check them.”
Students are required to put all cellphones, ear buds and smart watches in the magnetically locked pouches at the start of the school day.
At the end of the school day, the students are allowed to unlock the pouch.
Good!
@GriffoBJ Nothing wrong with that at all! Go for quality over quantity - get something from smaller craft distillers, something not mass produced and available "everywhere"
All I want is a bottle of vodka and a bottle of rum for my birthday in 4 months but I feel like I can’t ask any adults I know for that because it’s bad 😭
@nogulagsagain Australian here. No and no. In that order.
Speaking more generally, anything Trump does, Australia is probably smart to do the exact opposite because the guy is a moron and a criminal.
I pay $30,780.00 a year for health insurance, with a max out of pocket of $18,500.00 (not including copays at the counter), for the missus and I, so you'll have to excuse me if I seem unmoved that you're losing your free healthcare, that somehow I also pay for.
Hate to break it to you but:
We Are NOT STILL the UNITED STATES.
We are the RED STATES co-existing with the BLUE STATES.
We are the AMERICAN PEOPLE civil warring with the ANTI-AMERICAN PEOPLE.
We are the FLAG-WAVERS fighting against the FLAG BURNERS.
We are the PATRIOTS vs. the TRAITORS.
We are the PRO-LIFERS vs. the ABORTIONISTS.
We are the FAMILIES vs. the ANTI-FAMILY MARXIST RADICALS.
And we are the GOD-FEARING vs. the SATANISTS.
BUT WE ARE NO LONGER THE "UNITED" STATES.
Because for the last week, The Democrats have been staging a nationwide INSURRECTION against the democratically-elected president.
And when that happens: WE CAN NO LONGER CONSIDER OURSELVES A UNITED COUNTRY.
And if President Trump allows this to continue:
WE NEVER WILL BE AGAIN.
What is the common sense solution to this fiasco?
@SecRubio As an Australian, I support my government's sanctions in this instance.
Great harm and terrible deeds have been done by both Hamas and the Israeli government. I condemn them both.
The United States condemns the sanctions imposed by the governments of United Kingdom, Canada, Norway, New Zealand, and Australia on two sitting members of the Israeli cabinet. These sanctions do not advance U.S.-led efforts to achieve a ceasefire, bring all hostages home, and end the war.
We reject any notion of equivalence: Hamas is a terrorist organization that committed unspeakable atrocities, continues to hold innocent civilians hostage, and prevents the people of Gaza from living in peace. We remind our partners not to forget who the real enemy is.
The United States urges the reversal of the sanctions and stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel.
@GriffoBJ And his post race interview with the reporter from Sky was a train wreck too. When asked if a move like that "takes the shine off" his obvious talent he replies with a belligerent "that's your opinion" like a spoiled child.
@AustralianJA I'm sick of people vandalising stuff here for something happening on the other side of the world.
I'm sick of terrorist organisations like Hamas spreading fear.
I'm sick of the Israeli government killing innocent Palestinians.
Grow up, the lot of you! I'm sick of it all!
Election Bombshell: High Court Petition Challenges Legitimacy of 2022 and 2025 Federal Elections
By: Aussie News Tonight
A dramatic legal petition has been filed in the High Court of Australia, seeking to overturn the results of both the 2022 and 2025 federal elections, citing alleged misleading and deceptive conduct by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian Labor Party (ALP).
The challenge, filed under the Court of Disputed Returns, accuses Mr Albanese of knowingly misleading the Australian public through false campaign promises that allegedly swayed election outcomes and led to a Labor majority in both elections.
The Petitioner and His Claims
The petition, lodged by Robert Smith, a registered Australian voter, invokes several sections of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918, including:
Section 352, which defines illegal practices,
Section 360, allowing for elections to be declared void if illegal conduct affected the result.
According to Mr Smith, Labor's campaign conduct during both elections constitutes an abuse of democratic integrity, and warrants the nullification of the results and potentially, a new election.
Key Allegations
🔴 2022 Election: The $275 Power Price Promise
The petitioner claims Mr Albanese’s repeated promise to lower household power bills by $275 per year by 2025 was unfounded, unrealistic, and materially influenced voter behaviour.
“The promise lacked a reasonable basis at the time it was made,” the petition reads, “and power prices have instead surged by 2025.”
🔴 2025 Election: Multiple Broken Promises
Smith's petition points to several major 2025 campaign claims that he alleges were false or misleading, including:
Making housing more affordable
Reducing immigration levels
Cutting grocery prices
Implementing universal free bulk billing under Medicare
The petitioner asserts that none of these promises were delivered, and that Labor recklessly misled the public to gain votes.
What Smith Wants from the High Court
The petitioner seeks:
A declaration that both elections were void in whole or part
Injunctions to prevent certification of the 2025 election results
A new election in affected electorates, or possibly across the nation
A full hearing into the conduct of the ALP under Mr Albanese’s leadership
The petition claims that had these promises not been made, voters may have chosen differently, possibly preventing Labor from forming government.
Will It Go Anywhere?
While the petition is legally filed, experts say it faces an uphill battle. Courts are extremely reluctant to overturn elections unless clear evidence is provided that false conduct materially changed outcomes.
Historically, election result challenges in Australia have rarely succeeded — and proving intent to deceive, especially in a political context, is notoriously difficult.
Labor and AEC Silent So Far
As of publication, neither the Australian Labor Party nor the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has issued a public response. The High Court has yet to announce whether the petition will proceed to a full hearing.
But the filing is already generating intense political chatter, especially among voters disillusioned by rising costs and broken campaign promises.
Whether symbolic or serious, this challenge underscores growing unrest in sections of the electorate — and may signal a wider push to hold politicians legally accountable for election conduct.
Under the Radar or the Start of Something Bigger?
With voter trust at a low ebb and Australians facing economic headwinds, this legal petition may capture the mood of the moment. If accepted by the High Court, it would mark one of the most significant electoral disputes in recent Australian history.
