Born in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lived in Texas for most of my life. Just trying to live my life as happily as I can.

In May 1924, the Ku Klux Klan wanted to showcase its power and cement its sudden grip on Indiana politics by holding a picnic and parade in South Bend, the most Catholic area in the state. Notre Dame students made sure it didn't happen: go.nd.edu/ClashOverCatho…

The Haitians ended slavery not some benevolent white folks.

President Obama on Iran: “We pulled it off without firing a missile. We got 97% of their enriched uranium out. There’s no dispute that it worked and we didn’t have to kill a whole bunch of people or shut down the Strait of Hormuz”

You can tell the truth without being dishonest in either direction. Black Americans did not design the founding democratic system (they were excluded from it), but they were among the most important people in pushing America to become more democratic over time.

I will never get over the fact that Disney chose to name the heroes of the Star Wars sequels "the Resistance", despite the fact that the Rebel Alliance overthrew the Empire decades earlier and re-established the Galactic Republic. There's a broader lesson in there about how modern writers and artists think about everything. They ALWAYS have to be the brave revolutionaries and are never willing to accept that a day could come when they themselves become the ruling order.
