@EnronChairman I’d like to remind people that the main driver of the intensity of wildfires in North America is the lack of logging.

While you are protesting the oil industry, the lumber industry is quietly cutting down 500 year old trees every day

@EnronChairman CDN oil producers should be buying up tracts of old growth for carbon sequestration. I'd be buyer of such a company...#takemymoney

@RazzberryYams Vancouver based Greens will tell you that Hong Kong does not have enough "missing middle". I haven't been to Hong Kong....but I have been to Phoenix... Yikes!!

When asked to choose where Vancouver should not be like, Adriane Carr really said Hong Kong Not Phoenix or some other sprawling car-centric sprawl-y metro area, but Hong Kong, a dense green metropolis. Which is better for the climate?

Say what you want about the optics, w/ the benefit of hindsight to now know we basically just pulled fwd mandatory SPR sales legislated by prior admins, using the SPR when we did was masterful Combined with IRA passage, '22 was incredible year in energy policy for any @POTUS

The average gas price is now 44 cents below levels when Russia invaded Ukraine. All the increases since the beginning of Russia’s attack have been wiped out.

@JorgeLeCabron @Issherai @ericnuttall The problem is that the ICE did not really become more efficient quickly enough for staying power in North America. The masses of 4cyl 4x4 pickups disappeared for the easy marketing of towing capacity & horsepower

@Issherai @ericnuttall Just like ICE through the years became more efficient, thats what govt is focused on with EV.. its a fact through out history, investment = efficiency in technologies a d becomes cheaper

EVs to the rescue? ~125,000kms for an EV to reach emissions neutrality vs. combustion engine. Average Canadian only drives 15,200km/year and owns a car for 13 years. So, a whopping net 1.7 metric ton/y reduction over life of car = 42MM metric tons/y = 7% national drop at 100% EVs

@markknickle83 @TilmannScholz @ericnuttall Lol. We're piecing the puzzle together with (hopefully) all the pieces but no puzzle box. I love a good metaphor. But you're right, it's all we can do and hopefully we get the picture mostly correct

My non-consensus take on additional SPR drawdown talk from Biden admin Original SPR release was political, but in two ways 1) help reduce fuel costs/inflation burden on Americans 2) not allow Russia to benefit from higher oil prices from conflict it created 1/

@Lars57360069 @garquake Not if oil/gas/coal companies are nationalized or forced to change their business models. This climate thing is a reality, and oil/gas/coal companies cannot operate without taking into account the societal desire to reduce carbon emissions

@DouglasFerr2 @garquake Oil/gas/coal companies won't be out for 100s of years. It comes down to thermodynamics. Kilojoules and kilowatts. Units of work and energy.

Greatest thing to happen to Oil equity investing was when Biden's regime took over - That when I went all in on oil stocks- Seeing so many thinking Republican wins is Extra bullish as well - Why? #com #oott #stocks

@Lars57360069 @garquake Not particularly more "buffoonery" than his predecessor. O&G extraction has high environmental costs and oil products should be priced accordingly. If oil companies make bank on the way out for the next few years.... then so be it. It's circumstances, not planning....

@garquake As energy investors we know there are more things going on than Biden such as shale declines, investors demanding economic choices, no proper investment for a decade, ESG, etc..That said, Biden the buffoon has been the ultimate gift

@Big_Orrin @mmkschro @ThomasKuipers83 Canadian oil producers need to figure out how to embrace ESG on neutral terms. The #com could consider a paradigm shift. Cdn O&G would be wise to "lease" large tracts (timber licenses) of old growth/primary forest as a goodwill carbon capture. #loftygoals

@betajunkie @NatureCanada Uhhhh....sure. I've been to every corner of BC - even was a shareholder of WFP. Lands that have been logged are classified as "industrial". But again, there is no point in this discussion if you don't value wilderness for the sake of wildernesses.

What would you say if you found out that emissions from Canada’s logging industry rival those of the oil sands? Our latest report finds that the country’s net logging emissions were higher than emissions from oil sands production in every year from 2005 to 2018. (a thread)
