I’m absolutely astounded that Americans can see an unmarked vehicle with “agents” that don’t identify themselves shoot an American citizen - a mother with stuffed animals inside her car - and just say, “Oh well, she should have just complied.” I’m logging off this app for the rest of the day. America is going to crap faster than I could have ever imagined.

In regards to a correspondent talking about how Canada's energy market is "rattled"- I had to respond: Lots of folks completely unfamiliar with flows of oil and it shows. There is no substitute for Canadian oil and won't be for years and beyond- you can't just ship Venezuela's oil to the interior US easily- WCS will not face real competition for years. Venezuela still has huge risks and the future is clear as mud as to what happens, but these early calls, before meaningful regime change, before sanctions relief, before any clarity- provide nothing but guesswork. The reason Canada "wants new customers" is that the U.S. has become a less-than-stable trading partner and the only answer is to find sanity through building new infrastructure to become less reliant on the United States. Has absolutely nothing to do with Venezuela.

Just a kind reminder to all our American friends. That shit that happened in Minneapolis today, never ever happened in the EU, never would, never will. If a mother of three (youngest child of age 4 or 6) got point blank shot in the head by an officer here, no matter the circumstances, no matter the reasons, no matter the driving directions, or intentions, even if she were the worst human on the planet, governments would fall, elections would be called, and the offending officer would end up serving a horrible jail sentence (and his superiors wouldn’t fare much better). Oh, and in the EU politically mandated militias, such as ICE, are strictly illegal. Instead of fantasizing about gunboating your way to build an empire by sizing the territories of your allies, you may wanna consider scraping that medieval constitution you have and joining us as the 28th member of the Union.

The difference between the USA and UK. Two boys aged 15 and two girls of 14 were arrested after officers followed the Audi for ten miles through the streets of London. Armed officers safely stopped them, and no one died. ICE watch and learn, I'll stick with the Met, warts and all thanks. #Minnesota

Why exactly would a woman with no apparent criminal record, who was in no legal trouble, spontaneously decide to run over an ICE agent while surrounded by people with guns? Or, more importantly, why are the right pretending to be stupid enough to believe she would do that?

From the Outside, America No Longer Sounds Like Itself This is what people are talking about around the world today. A lot of us are sitting here listening to the United States and thinking: do Americans hear how this sounds. Because from the outside, it sounds like a country coming unglued, impulsive, and willing to throw rules out the window the moment they get in the way. And what is honestly shocking is how normal it seems to have become inside the US. People repeat the talking points, argue about the usual teams, and act like this is just another news cycle. But the rest of the world is hearing something else entirely. We are hearing threats. We are hearing contempt for allies. We are hearing a willingness to take what you want because you can. That is the kind of behavior Americans used to point at in other countries and say, that is not who we are. Now it is coming from Washington, and people abroad are not guessing anymore. They are concluding. In North America right now, Canada looks like the only adult in the room. Stable, boring, predictable, democratic. The kind of country you can actually trust from one year to the next. Maybe Americans do not feel the change because it is happening from the inside. But from the outside, it is loud. And it is not a good sound.

Statement from the Premier of Greenland 🇬🇱 6:55pm local time: “🇬🇱 We have been a close and loyal friend of the United States for generations. We have stood shoulder to shoulder in difficult times. We have taken responsibility for security in the North Atlantic — and not least for North America. That is what true friends do. Precisely for that reason, the current and repeated rhetoric coming from the United States is entirely unacceptable. When the President of the United States speaks of “needing Greenland” and links us to Venezuela and military intervention, it is not only wrong. It is disrespectful. Our country is not an object in great-power rhetoric. We are a people. A country. A democracy. That must be respected — especially by close and loyal friends. We are part of NATO, and we are fully aware of our country’s strategic location. We also understand that our security depends on good friends and strong alliances. In that context, a respectful and loyal relationship with the United States is very important. That has been the case for decades. But alliances are built on trust. And trust requires respect. Threats, pressure, and talk of annexation have no place between friends. That is not how one speaks to a people who have repeatedly demonstrated responsibility, stability, and loyalty. Enough is enough. No more pressure. No more insinuations. No more fantasies of annexation. We are open to dialogue. We are open to conversations. But they must take place through the proper channels and in full respect of international law. And the proper channels are not random and disrespectful posts on social media. Greenland is our home and our territory. And it will remain so. 🇬🇱”

Shocking stat of the day: Venezuela’s oil production is currently at just 30% of the levels seen 15 years ago. We could easily see another 3 million barrels of oil hit the market per day. That’s more than the daily consumption of all but 6 countries in the world.

"Could easily see another 3 million barrels of oil hit the market per day." Are you fuxxing kidding me? I’m not the type who likes to criticize or pick fights, but I seriously can’t hold back on this one lol Do you even know what Venezuela's historical peak production was before talking this kind of nonsense? This is what happens when tourists with zero expertise in the commodities space try to frontrun the headlines. For example, look at the oil patches in the US and Canada—these are world-class assets with the best infrastructure, labor, and capital inflow on the planet. Go out there just once and see for yourself how oil is actually discovered, drilled, and transported. Even in these top-tier jurisdictions, things don’t move that fast. And yet, you think infrastructure and networks that have been rotting for decades under underinvestment, neglect, and corruption can just be restored overnight? First of all, you need massive capital. Given the risks—and the fact that oil prices are low—you’d need some kind of "exemption from nationalization or potential sanctions" just to get Western banks and majors to look at it. Even if you have the funds, it takes physical time. It will happen eventually, but unless God himself descends, it’s not happening as fast as you’re all chirping about. Please remind yourselves: oil is not water you just turn on from a faucet. #oott #com

To the new Venezuelan oil bulls with the "300 Billion Barrels" largest-in-the-world reserves charts today, the real number is 25 billion. Congratulations, welcome to the Orinoco Belt. API Gravity: 8° ("Extra Heavy"). Sulfur: High ("Sour"). Metals: Yes, lots of Vanadium (poison to refinery catalysts). It's not Light Sweet Crude; it's road pavement that hasn't dried yet. Chemistry is a wonderful thing, and the industry can turn this sludge into jet fuel, but it costs a fortune. In reality, Venezuela's economically recoverable reserves are 25 billion barrels of heavy, sour, metallic oil. Today's free Oil 101 lesson: Volume is vanity. Viscosity is sanity.
