More than 4 centuries ago, Africans were kidnapped, enslaved, trafficked, & forced to work through the violent institution of chattel slavery. Our #HR40Reparations bill is an essential step toward repairing the harm of slavery in America and its aftermath.
Boston.com@BostonDotCom

The bill, unchanged by Pressley in this reintroduction, would create a federal commission that would investigate the impacts of slavery and provide concrete proposals for reparations. trib.al/EiResNM

Howard Associate Professor Bahiyyah Muhammad, Ph.D., has dedicated her career to challenging the stigma surrounding children of incarcerated parents. Her research focuses on highlighting resilience and success of these children as many of them have earned advanced degrees, hold public office, and have become leaders in their communities. In her latest book, “Social Revolution: Black Children of Incarcerated Parents Speak Truth to Power,” Dr. Muhammad showcases stories of individuals who have defied societal expectations. “I’m trying to challenge the deficit-based perspective that assumes the only outcome for children of incarcerated parents in incarceration themselves,” Dr. Muhammad said. Let’s have the AUDACITY to share this belief and to commit to making this belief a reality. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, from his 1964 Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech: “I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits. I believe that what self-centered men have torn down men other-centered can build up.” Full Speech: youtu.be/az8VvmcgNpE?si… #MLK #MartinLutherKingJr #MissionPossibleMLK

Today's Black American (Freedmen) inventor or innovator is Evelyn Boyd Granville. Evelyn Boyd Granville developed programs for the world's first mass-produced computer, the IBM 650. She created computer programs that tracked the orbits of America's first space trips, including Project Mercury, which were our first flights that sent humans to outer space. She would then work on the trajectories for the Apollo Project that helped America be the first and only country to put humans on the moon #BlackHistoryMonth.
