Our latest research identified mutations in the CIDEB gene that are highly protective against nonalcoholic forms of liver disease. We're using this discovery to bring potentially promising new therapies to the clinic to help people with NASH. #RGCResearch

By studying the genome of ~540K individuals, we discovered that those with a mutated copy of the CIDEB gene have a 53% lower risk for NASH. Discover how we use this research to inform the development of potential therapies. #RGCResearch

#stratifiedlockdown for #COVIDdk #COVID19 seems reasonable next step. Current data suggest very low case fatality rate for previously healthy people <50y.

Europe and US in total or partial lockdown to mitigate #COVID19. Soon more hundreds of millions will be confined to their homes. Huge personal sacrifices. Staggering economic losses. Ok, we accept the price for the common good. But how does this end? Here are some strategies:

Can I suggest we just use the acronym PGS for Polygenic Score instead of PRS? The word "risk" though it has a basically precise statistical definition has a terrible connotation in general parlance. #ASHG19

Planning your #ASHG19 Friday yet?! I’m as biased as euro PRS applied across ancestries, but highly suggest “Transferability of PRS Across Populations” @ 9 AM in Hall B. I’m co-moderating talks by @popgenepi, @genandgenes, my @umichsph colleague Pedro Orozco del Pino, & @dudutchy!
