World Diabetes Day 2025 - A Reality India Can’t Ignore India is now the Diabetes Capital of the World. But the real crisis is the food system that keeps us insulin-resistant for decades before diabetes is even diagnosed. 🇮🇳 India’s Diabetes Reality: •101 million Indians already have diabetes (ICMR–INDIAB, Lancet). •136 million have prediabetes (early diabetes) - most don’t even know it. •1 in 3 urban Indians is insulin resistant. •30–70% of adults show signs of fatty liver, high TG, or central obesity even with “normal” sugar. •India now spends more on diabetes + heart disease drugs than on any other therapy segment. This isn’t genetics. This is food + lifestyle-driven metabolic damage. Diabetes Doesn’t Start When Glucose Rises It begins 8–10 years earlier with: 1) High fasting insulin 2) High triglycerides 3) Fatty liver 4) Belly fat 5) Post-meal sleepiness 6) Cravings and brain fog But almost no one tests insulin & it’s never even advocated by anyone. Here's Anup's online evidence of 100g carbs from 2012 AFTER he was on it for one year already! Diagnosed a T2 Diabetic on 14th February 2011. Posted this on a UK based forum after being on 100g Carbs/Day Max for one year already. Anup's pathbreaking contribution to India's Metabolic Health space and the world at large - remains herculean. Grateful to Low carb stalwarts like Dr David Unwin, Dr Robert Cywes, David Diamond and many more who graciously continue to acknowledge Anup's contribution to Indian LCHF and Disease Reversal, esp on a Vegetarian diet.
