Interested in making the world a better place with personal opinions that may not matter. My medical degree opened my eyes to how much knowledge I lack.

Your personal experience is not generalizable just as a case report or series is a descriptive assessment and not inferential.

@5_utr @f2harrell @stephensenn Each company has a "black box" for their NGS assay with no predictive studies. Doesn't this imply that one's company NGS assay is not comparable to another's? Ask an oncologist which NGS assay is the best. The answers have nothing to do with outcomes (fast TAT, collabs, etc).

@f2harrell How often do we hear at tumor board, especially on stage IV disease, “I will order next generation sequencing on the biopsy to find a target” as if the tumor were a single-lock mechanism waiting for a single key? I am convinced @stephensenn is spot on:

‼️ Is “Precision Oncology” just marketing? Look at this effect decay curve. If cancer were a simple, sparse system, we’d see a vertical drop-off after a few genes. Instead, we see a persistent signal across 100+ dimensions. Cancer isn't a single switch; it’s a robust network. 🧵

No RCTs demonstrate Paxlovid reduces severe COVID-19 outcomes specifically in vaccinated adults; the EPIC-SR trial showed no benefit for symptom resolution or hospitalization risk in vaccinated individuals with mild disease. The pivotal EPIC-HR RCT primarily enrolled unvaccinated high-risk patients early in the pandemic. For children under 18, no RCTs exist for severe disease reduction; Pfizer's pediatric study was a single-arm trial. FDA fully approved Paxlovid for high-risk adults with mild-to-moderate COVID-19, while authorizing it under EUA for high-risk patients aged 12+ weighing at least 40 kg.

Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine were suppressed during the pandemic because they don’t work
Camus@newstart_2024

RFK Jr. Exposes the Real Reason Ivermectin & Hydroxychloroquine Were Suppressed In a stunning revelation, RFK Jr. lays bare the hidden motives behind the aggressive suppression of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine during the COVID-19 pandemic. These drugs—both with decades of proven safety and billions of doses administered—were systematically discredited, not for medical reasons, but for legal and financial ones. At the heart of the issue: a little-known federal law prohibiting the FDA from granting Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for vaccines if any existing, approved medication is shown to be effective against the target disease. If ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine had been acknowledged as effective against COVID-19, the EUA for vaccines would have been illegal. The result? A $200 billion vaccine enterprise could have collapsed overnight. Despite mounting evidence—including 17,000 doctors signing petitions and numerous peer-reviewed studies—officials like Tony Fauci led a relentless campaign to discredit these treatments. Ivermectin, a Nobel Prize-winning drug, was dismissed as “horse medicine,” while hydroxychloroquine was falsely labeled as dangerous. The goal? To ensure the vaccines remained the only “approved” solution. But why did the attacks continue even after the vaccines received EUA? The law appears to require that EUA status be revoked if a functional treatment emerges. The incentive to “kill” ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine was never about science—it was about protecting a financial empire. Leading experts, including Yale’s Harvey Risch and Dr. Peter McCullough (the most published physician in his field), have treated tens of thousands of COVID patients successfully with these drugs. Their conclusion, backed by data: Half a million American lives could have been saved. This isn’t just a medical scandal—it’s a betrayal of public trust. The question remains: How many lives were lost to protect a narrative?

@Path4People This patient must have a known Dx of CVID. If undiagnosed and with diarrhea, CVID bx's look like celiac, except no plasma cells. Also... better look for Giardia in all cases, but particularly CVID patients.

Senator Padilla was driven violently to his knees–as if made to kneel before the authority of the executive–because the administration called his questions “disrespectful”. This should offend not just the other 99 Senators. It should offend the conscience of this country.

4. Eat Your Protein (Every Meal Counts) If you're trying to build strength, lose fat, or just feel more energized, protein is your best friend. A great starting point is 1 gram of protein per pound of your desired body weight. Rather than overthinking it, aim to include a solid source of protein in every meal — chicken, beef, eggs, fish, Greek yogurt, protein shakes, etc. Protein helps you stay fuller longer, supports lean muscle, and improves recovery. Don’t overcomplicate it, just make it a habit. Remember, small changes consistently over time will help build that habit.

5 Simple Tips to Optimize Your Life (And Actually Feel Better Doing It)... If you’re someone who’s trying to do it all — work, family, fitness, life — it can feel overwhelming. But building a stronger, healthier version of yourself doesn’t have to be complicated. Small, intentional actions every day can have a massive impact over time. Here are five simple, effective tips to help you optimize your life so you can show up stronger — mentally, physically, and emotionally. 1. Prioritize Your Sleep (Seriously) We’ve all heard it: “Get your 8 hours.” But let’s be real — sleep is often the first thing we sacrifice when life gets busy. Aim for 7–8 hours of quality sleep each night. Your body needs that time to recover, recharge, and rebuild. If you're training hard, working long hours, or constantly on the go, sleep isn't just helpful, it's essential. Lack of rest affects your focus, mood, recovery, hormones, and even your appetite. You can’t pour from an empty cup and sleep is how you refill it. I will speak from experience, if I'm skimping on my sleep, my cognitive function starts to slip and I know it's time to put more priority on my sleep. If you are someone who is only getting 5-6 hours of sleep, aim to increase that by 15-30 minutes. Focus on small adjustments and changes vs trying to jump 2-3 hours.

Medical school tuition has skyrocketed. It’s outpacing inflation and leaving many physicians wondering: “Is it financially worth it?” The short answer: Yes—but only if you use your degree like an investment. Here’s how to turn that massive cost into massive freedom:
