Having my mentor visit Nashville, @MeharryMedical @MeharrySOGS & @VUBasicSciences @VUmedicine and meet several of my collaborators was such a boost during a busy season! Between serving on an NIH panel for the second time, working through numerous paper revisions, and balancing lab projects, it's been intense. Sitting down over dinner to strategize on revising each paper for my lab and discussing ways to streamline my, @phdgprotein86 papers and the @AtHinton lab setup was incredibly helpful. His insights on organizing the lab to bring out everyone’s unique strengths have set us up for efficiency and success as we move into Phase 3. Can’t wait to see our mechanistic work come to life in 2025. Immensely grateful to have a mentor, @IntMedAbel, who not only believes in me but actively supports my growth. Couldn’t do this without his guidance and sponsorship! #MentorshipMatters #Grateful #ScientificJourney. Thankful to @cziscience @czi @EEJustLSSociety @UNCF @BWFUND for funding my #mitochondria and organelle-organelle contact research.

So incredibly honored to be selected as 2024 Chancellor #FacultyFellow along with these outstanding colleagues! #Vanderbilt #AcademicExcellence Chancellor announces 2024 Faculty Fellows, grants $40,000 per year to support scholarship and research news.vanderbilt.edu/2024/06/11/cha…

This summer we decided to take on our largest number of students in the laboratory at 17. This includes 15 undergraduate students, and 2 High School students. We are very excited for the future and the progress that can be made by sharing with future doctors, leaders, nurses, health care professionals, and researchers that science looks like them and you can do it with merit and high quality. Thank you @VanderbiltU and @VUmedicine @VUBasicSciences for money to do this. Thank you to my staff for the long amount of hours @ZerVue Larry Vang @EdgarGa47227368 @DrScudese @HKbeasley @DrDreNeuroWay @ScientistsLift @NeikirkKit @AtHinton Thank you, Dr. @clintoria for all the additional help to prepare everything. Dr. @clintoria welcome to the lab as a visiting scholar as well. @BlackInPhysio @BlackInNeuro @BlackinCancer @BlackInBiophys Thank you @UNCF EE Just (@eejustsociety, Chad Womack), @czi @ChanZuckerberg, and @BWFUND for resources to have this summer program. Thank you @FordFoundation @NASEMFordFellow @TheEndoSociety @Endocrine_News @APSPhysiology @American_Heart @AHAScience for mentorship. Thank you to @MeharryMedical @MeharrySOGS for funding some of the students this summer as well. @merrylindseyphd and @cdas73 have been instrumental in this happening. This will be our last summer of doing a big summer programs as we are picking up research productivity in a big way. Stay tuned. We also use these paradigms for running our summer program (listed below) the last three years. We have had 6 ABRCMS winners, 1 @MarshallScholar winner, and @FulbrightPrgrm winner. Link: Beasley, H.
