Youth sports went completely insane at some point over the past several years. Parents spending thousands of dollars, devoting multiple days a week, traveling all around, all so their kid can obsessively play a particular sport and then graduate high school and never play it again. I actually think the “everybody’s a winner, the score doesn't matter” approach was preferable to this. Bring back the participation trophies if this is the alternative.

What even is America in the first place?
If you talk to a classical liberal (or even just most conservatives over the age of 50 today), they will inevitably boil it down to a set of principles. Being an American entails believing certain things.
But no nation exists merely because people give their assent to abstract propositions. There has to be a pre-existing “We the People” in order to jot down the principles in the first place. Nations can’t be reduced to ideologies or even principles because nations are themselves expressions of a deeper political unity, not the source of one.
America was not built by principles alone. It was built by an actual people who exercised political power in order to lay down those principles in the first place.
And who gets to define what those principles even are? Both Lincoln and Calhoun claimed to preserve the Founders. Coolidge and Wilson did as well. So too did FDR and Reagan.
Does anyone honestly believe for a second that the Founders envisioned the phrase “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” would ever be used to justify open borders, the mass importation of the Third World, transgenderism, gay marriage, the “civil rights” regime, women’s suffrage, or even universal male suffrage?
The principles never interpret themselves, especially from one generation to the next. Someone somewhere always gets to decide what they mean and how they’re applied.

Remaking Halo and then deliberately hiding every mention and appearance of an annoying girlboss character who's constantly in the player's face is a terrible look for Xbox. Especially when they're trying to save a brand that's spent years in the gutter and become the laughingstock of the entire gaming industry. Seriously, if they were going to include a character like that, they would have been better off not making those extra missions at all. Actually, they would have been better off never remaking Halo in the first place. The entire project has been unnecessary from day one. Seriously, Xbox, you are by far the dumbest video game company I've ever seen. I've never seen a brand go so far out of its way to sabotage itself the way Xbox does. I haven't even played it yet. The copy I got as a gift on Steam doesn't unlock until the 28th, so I'll get to see for myself just how much damage they managed to do to the franchise.
