The Sentencing Commission, which can set federal sentencing guidelines, has been w/out a quorum for the whole Biden presidency. Given that the federal prison population has gone up under this admin (after going down under Obama & Trump), this is welcome, if overdue, news.

Our prisons are still too full. But today, President Biden has made it easier for thousands of justice impacted individuals to have a second chance by increasing their access to education, job training, healthcare, and small business funding. #SecondChanceMonth

75 people will be reunited w/ their families thanks to President Biden's commutations today. But our prisons are still packed with thousands more who are serving unfair sentences. We need to pass the #EQUALAct to treat crack the same as cocaine and send ~8k more people back home!

The White House announced new policies Second Chance Month. Some thoughts... First, Biden issued 3 pardons & 72 commutations. While that's a tiny % of the open clemency applications, it's also more than any modern president has issued in his 2nd year. whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/…
