Strike 1 | May 11, 2024 — Miami, FL Kerley had filed his whereabouts listing a Miami home address for a 6:16–7:16 AM testing window. A DCO arrived and found him absent. When contacted, Kerley texted back that he was in Jamaica competing at the Jamaica International Invitational. He claimed to have previously updated the app to reflect this travel, but that the USADA app glitch failed to register the change. The tribunal didn't buy it. Crucially, records showed Kerley's whereabouts were actually updated during the 60-minute window itself — at 6:47 AM — strongly suggesting he only changed his location after seeing the DCO arrive via his home security cameras and hearing his uncle speak with the officer in real time. The tribunal also noted that app technical issues were only documented after a May 31 software update, not before. Kerley never sought an administrative review after this failure was confirmed. Strike 2 | June 13, 2024 — Munich, Germany This one Kerley didn't contest. He was staying at the Cortina Hotel for a hamstring treatment and had listed it as his testing location. But during his 6:16–7:16 AM window, he had gone outside the hotel for an early morning "shakeout run." The DCO came and couldn't find him. The tribunal found his degree of fault high since he had simply left the building during his own designated testing window with no precautions, and also didn't answer a phone call from the DCO. Strike 3 | December 6, 2024 — West Hollywood, CA Kerley was staying at a friend's apartment. The building's main entrance was locked with no directory listing for the apartment, which is something the athlete is required to provide information about in his whereabouts filing. A maintenance worker happened to let the DCO in, and the DCO reached the apartment door around 6:45 AM, where he knocked repeatedly and rang the doorbell (captured on video sent to his supervisor via WhatsApp at 6:48 AM). At 7:08, 7:09, and 7:12 AM (all still within the window) the DCO called Kerley three times. Kerley acknowledged receiving the calls but said he didn't answer because it was an unknown Mexican number. He texted "Who the" at 7:24 AM, which was nine minutes after the window closed. The tribunal found that Kerley's conduct in ignoring those calls (while sitting on 2 strikes) was "not just negligent but reckless." Lastly, the tribunal was "frankly astonished" that Kerley testified he wouldn't have opened the door even if he'd heard the knocking, since he was staying in someone else's apartment. Kerley can appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. He is currently slated to participate in The Enhanced Games.
