tragic: my mother somehow got the idea that i enjoy oatmeal in my cookies and she's been making me oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for decades now and i don't have the heart to try to correct her anymore because i wouldn't want to break her heart like that

Man there's really a crisis of misinformation on YouTube. Just noticed my partner watching a Benn Jordan video; she likes long-form educational content so YouTube recommended him. These people just have so many millions of subscribers, they're near impossible to avoid.

In addition to his considerable leverage, Platner has an equally strong *incentive* to use it. Withdrawing under pressure is equivalent to confessing guilt; the more he makes them pay him to leave, the weaker the confession and the better his future prospects.

lots of replies to Platner's assertion of leverage that feel something like "you're a scumbag who should have no leverage whatsoever, so please please please please please please please drop out now so we can bury you and do what we want" idk, that sounds like leverage to me
