@drjohnm @JAMA_current @NEJM A few better graphs in short abstracts would go a long way for improved summary. This digoxin paper is USA Today infographic graph crimes. Who wants a pill bottle picture to compare n=880 to 879?

@MNOpining @JAMA_current @NEJM IMO, an abstract is so limited that no one would consider that enough. But the central figure or research summary temps readers to just look there. Imagine a research summary of CHAMPION AF--it would miss all the key aspects of how trialists misled readers

Dear @JAMA_current and @NEJM and other journals, the trend of doing "research summaries" or short videos to condense trial manuscripts is a bad idea Details matter; supplements matter; critical appraisal means going deeper into the specifics If modern-day docs are going to offer more than an LLM, we will need to learn to read deeper into studies Rely on short summaries/central figures and you are at risk for being bamboozled, like the LAAO proponents

If you look closely… you will see not a single slant-eyed, mussy black haired Asian male with spots in this class. Scholarships are now the new way these universities discriminate against East Asian American males, who are not eye candy for whites and thus ineligible.

BZZZZZZZZZT WRONG Jews in North Minneapolis fled to the suburbs of Golden Valley and St. Louis Park after Black residents started moving into the area. Racial fear, stoked by local real estate agents played a role in the exodus.
Kurt Steiner@Kurt_Steiner

The Twin Cities are the best example in America of suburbanization in the post-war era having essentially nothing to do with race (in 1950 they were 99% white). With or without racial antagonisms, Americans were going to the 'burbs.

It is hard but essential to remember that something like 96% of women say they want all men above the average to ask them out MORE. We are currently living under a dictatorship of the most mal-adjusted 4% of weirdos.
Liz Is Amused@lizisamused

The removal of social etiquette around dating is a disaster for average, socially awkward dudes. For most of recent history, there were places where it was expected to talk to the opposite sex. Elizabeth & Darcy met at a ball. An Irish immigrant in early 1900s America went to a church dance where the point was to meet guys or girls. Even videos of the mall in the '90s featured teens happy to say they were there to meet the opposite sex. Now, we not only don't have organized social spaces, but guys are told constantly to leave women alone. They see viral videos of men being filmed for trying. It's easy to tell Gen Z men to just go out & socialize, but the reality is that trying to ask out women is harder than ever, both logistically & psychologically. And if you don't have social skills, even a simple activity group can feel scary & overwhelming. A no from a girl used to mean rejection; now it can mean social shame, being seen as a creep, or even worldwide humiliation via viral video. All I can really say: those viral videos are often staged. If you're polite to a girl you try to ask out, it's unlikely she's going to socially humiliate you. But that's small comfort when all of social programming currently tells men they're creepy if they dare to ask out a girl 🤷🏻‍♀️ Don't ask her out at her job! Don't ask her out at a group activity! Don't you dare assume that woman at the bar wants a MAN to hit on her! I don't blame guys for checking out. We removed the structures, shifted the culture, & expect men to just soldier through. But the juice isn't worth the squeeze for many, & I don't blame them 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm 100% sure a lot of these guys would have been just fine in the days before dating apps & Instagram, but we're not there anymore ☹️

@MNOpining @wil_da_beast630 Not really. I have no professional training but have learned all the skills of a nurse, respiratory therapist to care for my disabled daughter. Parents of special needs often have “medically qualified” caregiving skills.

I'm...not sure that paying medically qualified citizens to care for relatives, so that they don't have to enter homes, IS "fraud."

2/ Another homicide. Minneapolis Police investigating a domestic stabbing death. April 30, 2026 - Chief O’Hara announced that a domestic altercation between brothers resulted in the death of one and the arrest of the other. At approximately 3:05 a.m., Fourth Precinct officers responded to a report of a stabbing on the 3000 block of Girard Ave N. Officers located a man in his 20s inside a residence with a life-threatening stab wound. Officers provided immediate medical aid, including CPR. Despite all life-saving efforts by officers and EMS, the man died at the scene. Officers located and arrested the victim’s brother, also a man in his 20s. He was transported to Hennepin Healthcare for evaluation of apparent non-life-threatening injuries believed to be related to the altercation and then was booked into the Hennepin County Jail. Preliminary information indicates that a domestic dispute escalated, resulting in the stabbing. Homicide investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the stabbing. “This is a heartbreaking outcome for a family,” said Chief O’Hara. “When violence occurs between siblings, it leaves lasting trauma that extends far beyond those directly involved. Our thoughts are with the family as they face an unimaginable loss.” The MPD incident number is 26-111348. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact MPD by emailing policetips@minneapolismn.gov or calling 612-673-5845 to leave a voicemail. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online at CrimeStoppersMN.org.
