Mr Rocky had his first ever T-bone streak today. He said it was the best day of his life. It’s only 3 weeks since he came in so close to death and plenty of people said he should be put to sleep. Unbelievable scenes ❤️

We’re obsessed with the idea that poor people might take more than they need, but we rarely question why some wealthy people are never satisfied with what they already have.

🚨 Julian Assange Warned us: "Digital archives let them erase history with one click. One day: "Page not found." The next: "it never happened." They control what you remember. Save physical books. Archive offline. Don't trust the cloud. This is how 1984 wins.

The super crisis is coming, right? No The rising % of people 65+ moderately increases super as % of GDP but the lower % of <18s largely offsets this through less education cost as a % of GDP Combined super+education cost is 7.5% of GDP now, 7.9% in 2039. This is the crisis?

the 'raise the super age' crowd claim the number of workers per superannuitant is getting unsustainably low. Not true, for 2 reasons. 1) more working age women are actually working than previously 2) kids are dependents, too. including them, the dependency ratio is *improving*

Maiki Sherman losing her job was punishment for exposing Luxon’s incompetence and woeful leadership. It is also the distraction they wanted so Luxon the coward could slink off & hide while the country forgets how monumentally inept & unfit he is. Don’t let them get away with it.

Fees free was about not sending young adults into life already heavily indebted (I was part of the team that designed it) It worked since fees free was introduced: the number of NZ-based Kiwis with student loan debt has fallen by 113,000 & their total debt has fallen by $550m

"Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said the fees-free scheme hadn’t delivered “on any of its objectives”." I want to see the data! PS: Mr Luxon, you haven't delivered on our economy either! You've fucked it!

I don’t like KiwiSaver tinkering. National already. - axed the $1000 kickstart - removed $521 a year in govt contributions - taxed employer contributions - added the $40pa fee ACT want to remove the remaining $521. These changes drastically change your retirement savings.

Eight months from one complaint to abolition.   How a coordinated far-right network — The Platform, NZ First, ACT, Free Speech Union — took down NZ's only media regulator with statutory teeth.   The Trumpian template, rehearsed in Aotearoa. culture-centered.blogspot.com/2026/05/how-fa…

@srikat It's a tricky job given the db and paths n that, but to cut down the migration time, you can use WP Vivid to just backup/restore the db only - and file sync the rest on say OneDrive (as long as you exclude the db!). (I gave up :) - and use Duplicator/WP Vivid on a manual basis).

Keeping localhost sites on two different computers (on the same network) AND an online site in sync: Now that I can't get site sync working in either Local (with WP Engine, tried a few months ago) or in Studio (with Pressable), I gave up and resorted to full site export and imports using WP Vivid via OneDrive. A little slow, manual and tedious, at least it works.

@liamvincent26 I left school at 14. Went to Uni fee free at 33. Got a Bachelors, started lecturing. Masters at 52, finishing PhD at 64, still teaching. ALL my kids completed school, into tertiary. One a Vet, another managing in an NFP. Last one astrophysics. Fee free changed our lives.

@srikat @robb_j_m Wow, I can't believe we're a little *cheaper* in AoNZ and higher limits too... $105.00 (and our dollar's worth less) One NZ gigabit plan ("Fibre Max").

To my Aussie friends: Wasn't the idea behind the NBN (National Broadband Network) to ensure that everyone had inexpensive access to the internet? What happened? How much are you paying for internet access?
