If Banks wants to come back to the US program and simply explains that the reports from the German media weren’t true, he wanted to take his time on a big decision, and he didn’t feel he was in a state to play international games while contemplating his decision, I’d welcome him back. The fact that we’ve heard nothing from him or anyone around him and nothing from any US media opposing the reports from German media makes me think the reports are true and he really just does feel exactly the way the German media has portrayed. I don’t know how there’s a nice way to frame that to a US audience. He also may still feel that he can play the both sides thing and come back to the USA. If he’s in any way still considering the USA as an option, I think he’s getting some bad PR advice on how to handle this.
