I think many women will be relieved to hear @wesstreeting say that new single-sex rules for the NHS are coming soon. My opponent in the BBC #AntiSocial programme argued that hardly anyone has ever objected to the presence of “transwomen” (i.e. men) in women’s single-sex wards. I pointed out that women will generally not complain, for diverse reasons. After the broadcast I received the following message, which I am re-posting here with the person’s consent: “Just wanted to say, thank you for arguing the case for single sex spaces on hospital wards. My mum was flashed repeatedly on a female ward by a trans woman with a penis. As a survivor of sexual violence she was petrified and struggled to sleep. Because it was Brighton and all the nurses had progress flags on we were too scared to report it. We didn’t want her treatment to be impacted by the nurses view of her as being a ‘transphobe’.”

@Fox_Claire @SonyaDouglas @wesstreeting I keep hearing more and more similar stories. Also that there is no effective procedure through which to submit such complaints, since the NHS is still registering “gender identity” rather than sex.

You’d think there’d be a few incidents reported but clearly this outbreak of trans women exposing themselves is a state secret. Have you always found it this easy to lie?
