Iran has been successfully manipulating the rules of the Western diplomacy game for 47 years, Trump to his credit realizes that in order to make any real gains in that region there has to be new rules & a new game otherwise nothing changes & Iranian mullahs become nuclear powers. It seems he thought he needed to reset their calculus regardless of the optics because he'd been forced to by the previous decades of unsuccessful & predictable tactics. I'm not excusing anything just trying to come up with a plausible explanation.

Obama and Clinton didn't just threaten to bomb civilian infrastructure; they actually did it. We should hold Trump's actions to the same standard as we hold them. But we should also hold his words to a high standard, even though words matter less than action. Saying a whole civilization will die will be reasonably interpreted as threatening civilians, a standard that America should never even be perceived as falling to. Not even as a negotiating tactic. This is true even though the Islamic Republic, which is evil, has no standard at all. Trump deserves credit for just negotiating a cease fire, and that's the most important outcome here: that the killing stops. Even as we celebrate the ends, we should still scrutinize the means.

@WyattWheeler_ It's not the controlled burns that are unsettling...it's what happens with the unexpected uncontrolled burns if the grass isn't taken care of each year.

In looking at the transcript of the Birthright Citizenship case oral argument, I noted something that I think is indicative of why Justice Jackson seems to be "wearing out her welcome" with other Justices. The CJ has brought a bit of structure to oral arguments -- at least to the beginning. The Attorney takes 60-120 seconds to give a "30,000 foot" overview of his client's position. The CJ then starts the questioning with Justice Thomas, and then goes in order of tenure on the Court. Twice in the Birthright Citizenship case Justice Jackson jumped in ahead of her turn, and stepped on the answers to questions that were posed by Justices on the Court longer than she has been. She first did it at page 23 of the transcript, while Gorsuch was in the middle of asking a question. He ignored her and kept asking his question. She then did it to Justice Barrett -- trying to jump in after Justice Gorsuch finished, when Justice Barrett was next. Justice Kavanaugh opted to not ask any questions in the first round. In fact, she did it twice to Barrett -- coming back and trying to interject a question again when Barrett was still asking questions during the first round. When she did it a 3rd time, Barrett just let her go. Her inability to control herself, and her seeming indifference to the protocol the others all respect are the kinds of little things that end up with you occupying the William O. Douglas seat on the Court.

@WyattWheeler_ I'm not mad at her but it is disappointing. I had invested & hoped she'd be a part of the Wildcat family & in time take her place amongst the other greats in the program. Apparently we got outbid. I wish her well. It's hard to root for players in the age of NIL.

Americans pay $56,295,000 every day in credit card swipe fees at the pump. My Credit Card Competition Act would break up the duopoly, bring real competition to the payments system, and save Americans money.

@bprintco These are the kind of people that will complain about the contractors they had come out and never heard back from and then we'll complain when they finally do get somebody who's desperate for the work. This is a no-win situation for any contractor. Customer isn't helping either.

Oof… just had the roughest quote I’ve ever done. One of those jobs where the customer gets tons and tons of quotes. His wife mentioned nobody has been calling back, following up, or sending a quote. I take a look at it and it’s immediately apparent why. It’s a small job and really tough. They don’t want to do it and don’t have the right equipment to do it. It’s on roughly a 45 degree grade. Much too steep for a Bobcat. Needs the RC machine. I explain this to the customer and he loses it. Tells me nobody else said that. Says “Oh you must not have a Bobcat with tracks then.” Keep in mind. Nobody else has sent this guy a quote after seeing it. Pretty sure they were just being agreeable to dip out. We’re the only ones I know of in the area that has the right machine for this job. Guy got unreasonably angry that I said a Bobcat can’t handle that grade. Was so bizarre. Anyways, I’m not sending a quote either 😂 No way I’m making an operator deal with this guy

@DataRepublican @reddit_lies And I was today years old when I learned about Helen Keller's politics and now I'm a little sad. That's too bad, but I am betting she was manipulated.

@reddit_lies The only reason Helen Keller was ever promoted as inspo porn was because she was a straight-up Communist. Ask how I know.

Somewhat annoyed with @FoxNews for awhile. Why do they think we care about the political opinion of some WNBA player or random celebrity? Why is that "news"? There's lots going on in the world, if someone of questionable celebrity status has an opinion, I don't care.

This Irish singer, songwriter and musician started his career in 1974 and had several top 40 hit singles. ‘Don't Pay the Ferryman’ was released in 1982 and reached #34 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US and #48 on the UK Singles chart. Some of the words in this song were actually amended from lines from the Shakespeare play, The Tempest. 👉🏻 Name the artist.

I post a lot about the people I shadow Never posted about someone who shadows me He's there every morning before I log on Every late night when I'm the last one in the building He doesn't cc leadership when I mess up Just quietly covers the balance Every quarter I've come up short, he absorbs the liability himself Never once asked for anything in return So I finally looked at the terms The buyer acquired 100% of the liability The seller brought nothing to the table And the buyer still closed Unconditional Turns out he signed it before I even knew there was a deal My analyst tried to model the return Said it doesn't work on a spreadsheet Said the whole thesis is based on something he can't quantify Told him welcome to the deal Happy Easter

@shipwreckedcrew I worked for a state supreme court & the internal politics that I saw probably pales in compares to SCOTUS but they probably act similarly meaning each chamber is treated as an island unto itself. Each justice runs their chambers with no interference from anyone or anything.

@shipwreckedcrew @shipwreckedcrew let's say your hypothesis is true, & I don't doubt it is, what then? What recourse is there for the other Justices to deal with such behavior? I don't think there's much that can be done is there?
