@DavidJPba @ZubyMusic You’re making a good point here. What ruins it is you’re exaggerating - either through poor math or intentional fuzziness on the ages / timeframes. A mid 60’s age boomer was in his 30’s in 1996. The inflation rate since then is nothing near the one you project.

One of the things that is happening is that money is losing it's value, but most people have not really clued in yet. So Boomers who spent their whole lives working think that $1 million is generational wealth, when it's really just $100k from when they were in their 30s.

@jamchan83 Equinor is 67% owned by the Norwegian Government. The rest is public stock. Exploration costs are borne by the Government, not private companies as in Canada.

Funny how Norway comparison always leaves this part out: Norway taxes oil companies far more aggressively than Alberta ever has. Norway saves the revenue. Norway didn’t build its model on perpetual tax cuts. You can’t demand Norway’s wealth while rejecting Norway’s policies.
