Rotary E-Club (Naguru)

Some people have reported a kind of being conned where the cons make them cooperate in ways they can’t explain or properly recall. Some of these cons stage in banks or on roadsides. The moment you start listening to them, before you know it (and without coercion) you are simply taking instructions to do whatever they ask you to do. You even find yourself believing obvious lies from them. I know of one student whom they found in the bank hall, made him to withdraw money, and handed it to them. How do they do it? Is it witchcraft?

𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧, Uganda is witnessing rapid urbanisation and construction activities nationwide. As our 𝑐𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠, 𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑝𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠, 𝑡𝑜𝑤𝑛 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑙𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑣𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑎𝑔𝑒𝑠 continue to expand, so do the associated risks, such as those potentially arising from earthquakes, floods, landslides and fires. These risks are exacerbated by our location in the East African Rift System, making us vulnerable to natural and man-made disasters. Specifically on earthquakes, H.E the President @KagutaMuseveni has on several occasions directed the government to conduct comprehensive inspections of major buildings nationwide to assess their earthquake resistance and identify structural weaknesses and enforce immediate and long-term remedial measures; To respond to the presidential directive and the highlighted risks, we are pleased to unveil the 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐄 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 (𝑆𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑖𝑐 𝐸𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑅𝑖𝑠𝑘 𝐸𝑛𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔, 𝑁𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐸𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛), a national initiative designed to strengthen Uganda’s resilience to disasters through science, data, and collaboration. Through a partnership between the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 (𝐍𝐁𝐑𝐁) and the 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 (𝐆𝐄𝐌) 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, a global organisation that develops transparent tools, data, and models to support risk management worldwide, especially in vulnerable and underserved regions, the project will ensure that Uganda has; ✔𝑆𝑎𝑓𝑒𝑟 𝐵𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 ✔ 𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟 𝑅𝑒𝑔𝑢𝑙𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 ✔ 𝐼𝑚𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑑 𝐸𝑛𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑐𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 ✔ 𝑆𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝐿𝑜𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝐸𝑥𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑠 ✔ 𝐵𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝐷𝑖𝑠𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑃𝑟𝑒𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑑𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 The project will officially be launched by the Minister of @MoWT_Uganda, @GenWamala, on Thursday, 16th April 2026, at Mestil Hotel. The total contributions from you for reusable pads for vulnerable rural school girls were 10,922,000/- We are working out arrangements to have them delivered to a school we will select. I had thought of Karamoja, but I understand AfriPads will be donating there soon. Then the Danish embassy cartoon auction funds will get pads for girls in a refugee settlement in Adjumani. So it is my view that these reusable pads go to underprivileged school girls in Busoga. Join me here in identifying that underprivileged DAY secondary school. Suggest with photos of the school.
