@NASA can you tell us what the scheduled days/times are for when you are likely to test O2O for live 4K video?

@NASA I now understand that the primary RF data link is only 2Mb/s, so that explains the video. Apparently they will test an experimental high bandwidth optical link when they are near the moon, that should enable 4K 60fps live video. Looking forward to that.

@NASA Happy for the success so far, but the words are a little over the top - not that it's never been done before, right? Also a little disappointed at the low video frame rate. Audio is good though.

Next stop: lunar flyby. The Orion spacecraft recently ignited its main engine on the service module for about six minutes to provide about 6,000 pounds of thrust. This maneuver not only sets the Artemis II astronauts on the path to the Moon. It also puts the crew in a free return trajectory, which will allow them to use Moon's gravity to return to Earth. go.nasa.gov/4cccoHw

I think that what events in the Middle East mean, unequivocally, is that without plentiful, easily accessible and cheap energy our entire way of life is negatively affected. And seriously. From inflation and interest rates to food and every product, to transport and utilities.

My Daughter came over to tell me her daughter heard that I had brain cancer. 🙄 She took this photo and sent it to me to upload to prove I'm not ill. The people who are ill are those that are spreading these ridiculous stories. I'm fit as a fiddle. You don't have to worry.

@erikkuna @SuperclusterHQ @MiopsTrigger @CanonUSA @NASAArtemis As a professional still and motion photographer of 5 decades, I can relate to the thrill of nailing the shot and having beaten the odds. Your image captures the raw power that is levitating a big hunk of metal and fuel. Awesome.

This is the shot you can’t get from the press site. This camera was sitting a few football fields from the SLS rocket at Pad 39B for days before launch, baking in the Florida sun, surviving rain, humidity, and whatever else the Cape threw at it. No photographer behind the viewfinder. Just a camera, a sound trigger, and a bet. The way pad remotes work: you set your camera up days in advance, dial in your composition, lock everything down, and walk away. You don’t touch it again until after the launch. The shutter fires on sound activation with a @MiopsTrigger smart+ trigger. With SLS, the four RS-25 engines ignite six seconds before the solid rocket boosters, so the camera is already firing before the vehicle even leaves the pad. You get home, pull the card, and find out if you nailed it or if a bird landed on your lens two days ago and left your a present and you got 400 photos of soemthing crappy. There’s no formula for protecting your gear this close. Some photographers build wooden boxes with doors that pop open. Some use plastic bags and tape. Some do plastic or metal barn door rigs on hinges. I tend to leave mine open just in plastic rain covers because boxes limit my composition and setup time, but that means your cameras are more exposed to the elements and whatever energy and debris comes off the pad. You’re basically gambling a camera body every time you set one. That’s what I love about this genre. There’s no playbook. You make it up as you go. Every time is an adventure. 📸 credit: me for @SuperclusterHQ - Artemis II pad remote | ~1,000 ft from Pad 39B | Kennedy Space Center

@NoJetsTO I respect the work that you are doing, and doing well. It's unfortunate that meeting was primarily an opportunity to bash the Ford government, and put your presentation almost as an after thought, when it should have been the core debate. Instead we get political grandstanding.

@FoodProfessor You precisely point out the conflict-of-interest that our mainstream media find themselves in. There was always advertising that could conflict, but media used to do a good job of keeping advertising and editorial separate. Now, government advertising overwhelms that split.

Some personal news to share. My regular column with La Presse has been suspended indefinitely this week, after 25 years and more than 1,000 columns. This was not my decision. The decision is linked to recent public comments I made on social media regarding the evolving media landscape in Canada, including reflections on government support for media and its potential implications. I understand that these are sensitive and complex issues, and my remarks may not have aligned with the publication’s perspective. While I am disappointed, I fully respect their decision and remain grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to contribute over the years. I would also like to note that my contributions were always made on a voluntary basis. I was never compensated for my columns, and have personally supported La Presse through a paid subscription throughout that time. It has truly been a privilege to write for such an important institution. I continue to believe that open, thoughtful discussions about the future of media in Canada are both necessary and healthy.

Why is Ford so OBSESSED with Toronto’s waterfront? From the Billy Bishop airport, Ontario Place, his island and a convention centre-spa duo, the list goes ON. We do NOT need a premier who’s trying to cosplay the city mayor, nor spend billions of taxpayers' dollars in investment projects to line his corporate buddies' pockets. We need a leader who’s focused on the needs of Ontarians and building a province that’s liveable for ALL.

John Krafcik, Former Waymo CEO thinks Tesla can’t solve autonomy with a vision-only approach. “Human vision is so much more capable than the vision of a car equipped with seven 5-megapixel cameras — only one of which is narrow-view, while all the others are wide-view. So you’re basically dispersing those 5 megapixels in a way that makes the actual effective vision more like 20/60 or 20/70. The rest of the cameras in a car like that wouldn’t even pass a DMV vision test. If you compare that to a serious L4 company, they’re really trying to achieve superhuman perception with an amazing array of cameras — with extraordinary 360° coverage, redundancy at the corners of the car, on the roof, high and low, everywhere. And then you have LiDAR and radar providing completely different modalities of active sensing to complement the passive sensing from the cameras. That’s truly superhuman. With that level of data, you can do amazing things — as opposed to a car that has a really bad case of myopia, should be wearing glasses, and operates on a very limited data cycle. I think that’s the core challenge the current iteration of camera-only cars faces: they don’t have superhuman vision. They just don’t. And without superhuman vision, it seems pretty unlikely to me that you’re going to achieve superhuman driving capability. If you’re not going to achieve superhuman driving capability, why are you even bothering, right? That’s the whole point of this.” 😂😂

10 years ago, Canadians would have laughed at the idea of government-run grocery stores. Today, we’re seeing op-eds now trying to convince Canadians why it’s not a good idea. The fact that some need convincing is incredibly troubling.

@FoodProfessor If taxes are increased on food so that private sector stores have to pay and charge more, then an LCBO style grocery store network owned by government could show a profit. Would make the public sector unions happy.
