Equality, participation and non-discrimination are at the heart of democracy. Yet across the world, too many LGBTIQ+ persons still face violence, discrimination, hate speech and stigmatisation simply for being who they are.
In more than 65 countries, consensual same-sex relations remain criminalised. Where discrimination persists, democracy cannot fully thrive. The EU remains committed to defending the human rights of all LGBTIQ+ persons and to promoting inclusive and democratic societies for all.

What was meant to weaken Europe strengthened our unity.
We will continue to #StandWithUkraine. The path to peace is clear: intensifying pressure on Russia while increasing support for Ukraine.
