Think it's kinda silly to think otherwise. Of course Rory had an advantage. She left public school because her grandparents paid for Chilton. They then also paid for her to go to Yale which opened up many more doors for her. Yes Rory worked hard, but obviously had an advantage.
Eric Patterson@EPatGolf

The "Rory had an unfair advantage" discourse may be the most insane I've seen on this app. If you utter those words or believe it to be true, you just don't get it

Agarwal for Congress
Agarwal for Congress@ethanagarwal·
Now I know why everyone hates politicians. Let's start with some context. We announced our campaign March 3rd. In the last three weeks, we've been gaining really great traction. We've been hitting @RoKhanna hard on his ongoing stock trading activities, over $600m(!) in his nine years of being a public servant. In response: 1. Ro had three people reach out to me, offering that if I dropped out of this race he would endorse me in 2028 when he runs for President. When I said no the first two times, the third guy said if I don’t take this offer, I’ll be making an enemy of the President of the United States. That’s the kind of person Ro is. 2. After I turned down his offer, he did opposition research on me, which is fair. Then he used a shill reporter to write the totally unprofessional piece below. One thing I'll give credit to Ro's team for: they know how to drag someone through the mud. They did the same thing to legendary Congressman Mike Honda. 3. He then clipped parts of this article and sent it out to his email list, the fourth email about me in the last three weeks. Our team debated whether to respond to the article below at all, we wanted to avoid the Streisand effect. But we've decided to answer it, not to substantiate it or lend credibility to this "reporter", but because we have nothing to hide and we believe the voters deserve to know who they're voting for. So, here are the answers. Any concerned citizens or reporters who want to ask any follow up questions, feel free to call or text me directly: 408.761.3234. I have nothing to hide.  Let’s go back 11 years. Aaptiv is a company I started on my couch in 2015. In the next five years, over one million people across twenty countries paid for our health and wellness products. This success was due to a ton of work from the Aaptiv team, the investors, and even our members who took a leap of faith on a new product. Eventually, our customer acquisition costs didn't scale, so we ended up selling the company. I stepped down as CEO a few months before the M&A closed. Anyone that’s been part of a business of any size knows that lawsuits between companies are standard negotiating practice. It makes sense that Ro has no idea how this stuff works, never having run a business, and being a b-tier lawyer, telling everyone he was a Partner when he was actually Of Counsel.  Let’s go into the details mentioned in the article. Every item was ultimately settled no personal penalities: 1. “Court records show Agarwal — who previously lived in New York — personally confessed in 2020 to owing $2 million to Universal Music Group over a licensing dispute with the digital fitness company he founded, Aaptiv.“ Our health classes used popular music licensed from the majors, UMG, SME, and WMG. Negotiating with these folks is no joke. The reason I offered a personal guarantee is that UMG would offer Aaptiv better terms if I agreed to that; it's not something most founders are willing to do. UMG drove a hard bargain in our negotiations, and threatened me and Aaptiv with this lawsuit. Ultimately, we settled, with no personal penalties or incrimination, confirming that the case was only a negotiating ploy. 2. “Later filings show Agarwal failed to pay $300,000 of the settlement he agreed to a year before selling the company in 2021. “ Same as above, UMG driving a hard bargain using lawsuits as negotiation. Again, the only reason my name is there is because I offered a personal guarantee to help the company get a better deal. Again, as you can see in the documents we settled with no personal penalties or incrimination, again confirming that the case was only a negotiating ploy. 3. “Separately, the landlord of One World Trade Center in New York City sued Agarwal’s company in 2023 for $2 million over unpaid rent while he was CEO, though proceedings were discontinued the same year. “ We had a dispute with our landlord over rent during COVID. As stated, proceedings were discontinued with no penalties or liabilities. 4. “Court records show he was married for nearly 10 years until filing for divorce in 2025. Agarwal declined to comment on his marriage separation.” I’m not commenting on my family since this is the decency we all deserve. BTW - this wasn’t for lack of trying on part of the “reporter,” who made some seriously disgusting inquiries.  5. “The lies Ethan is spreading about Ro are sad, but also deeply hypocritical given his checkered financial and personal past,” Khanna’s spokesperson Sarah Drory told San José Spotlight. “We should have a conversation in our district and California about real ideas and plans to improve the lives of people in the community.” Sarah, I would absolutely love to have a conversation about the district, in our district. Unfortunately Ro has been playing Where In The World is Ro Khanna for the last five years. Any time you want to speak in the district Ro, let me know. In fact, let’s have the debate in Hindi or English. You probably don’t know this Ro, but 60% of our district speaks a different language from English at home. These issues are from over five years ago when I was a private citizen. Ro has been trading over $600,000,000 stock in the last 9 years, while being an elected public servant, railing daily against wealth inequality. There will probably be other stuff that comes out about my time as a private citizen. I’ve worked for two large multinational companies, I’ve started two companies worth over $100m+, I’ve hired and even had to let go dozens of people; anyone that is in the mix will have some mess on them. Here are some embarrassing things: A while back, I downloaded some porn, got accused of IP infringement by the production company and it was settled. When I was 20, I used a fake ID and got caught and did community service to pay my dues. As I said above, anyone should feel free to ask questions, I’m not hiding anything. Now it's your turn, Ro. Let’s start going into your past. Srilatha? Bring it Ro. You’ve got a hell of a lot more to lose than I do. Coward.

@grahamformaine Did something happen in Lebanon? Like an army that’s not supposed to arm itself did right at the border? Or no? Why don’t you tell us given you’re the one running for office

Netanyahu has occupied southern Lebanon — seizing territory, displacing over a million people, and using white phosphorus in civilian areas. More war crimes, alongside the genocide in Gaza, the occupation of the West Bank, and the bombing of Iran — bankrolled by the American taxpayer.

@BernieSanders I don’t think your job is to slow down progress and it’s sad you think it is. Your job is to come up with ways that we can work around that progress to benefit all. Hopefully you can get there someday

We are rapidly creating technology that could surpass human intelligence, with enormous risks to jobs, society and humanity itself. AI must work for all of us, not just a handful of billionaires. That’s why I’m introducing a moratorium on new AI data centers.

@chamath And now we’ve been led into a doom spiral of interest expense that will only keep growing as politicians promise more and more programs instead of focusing on paying down our debt in any meaningful way. $1 trillion a year and climbing

We all know what some feel uncomfortable saying: Most taxes are WASTED. They are leaked and grifted into all kinds of programs that sound good on the surface. But that’s the lie that is told so politicians can take more of your earnings and dole it out to win votes and stay in power. But it also turns out that people aren’t stupid and know the game. So the states that admit this by breaking away from the hamster wheel of increased taxation are winning. While those who continue to try and sell the lie are losing. At the limit, those losing states are leaking so much revenue that they will eventually lose so much tax revenue as to be effectively insolvent. Remember this data is just from 2023…we are in mid 2026 so another two years of this trend is already in the books.

@RoKhanna @jkirchick Hi @RoKhanna . Just asking again for the facts because genocide is a big claim. How many deaths have been members of Hamas? What about natural causes? Where does this conflict fall in combat to civilian ratio? You claim to be a facts guy so please back it up, for once.

@chamath @RoKhanna @chamath , would be insane (but unsurprising) if Ro bought defense stocks over the past few weeks leading up to the war w Iran (given his outward preaching on this topic). If that comes out, there’s no turning back

So it turns out that the sitting local Democratic congressman in Silicon Valley, @RoKhanna, is the most un-entrepreneurial, creative or innovative person possible. He is: 1) In favor of California’s Property Seizure tax that he calls a “Billionaire” Tax. It’s already led to half of California’s Billionaire wealth to flee the state which will leave the middle class to pay for the lost revenues. 2) Despite this, he then teamed up with Bernie Sanders to propose an additional national 5% wealth tax to spend on God knows what. 3) Despite all the virtue signaling on inequality, he is also one of the most prolific traders in Congress where just last year he traded $55.7m of stock. With everything he learns in Congress to help him, he beat the market by 13%. Ro’s ambition is what matters most to him and he will flop from dumb idea to dumb idea if he thinks it will serve his broader political ambitions. Currently that means being a quasi socialist to win favor with the extreme left of his Party. He doesn’t deserve to represent Silicon Valley and I hope he loses badly in his re-election.

There’s no way the trash situation in NYC is healthy / sanitary. When is this going to get resolved? Can’t walk down the sidewalk - has been out here for well over a week. Is this the new policy in action in the city? @BillAckman

@RoKhanna @BillAckman @RoKhanna again manipulating facts that he knows aren’t right for politics! Saying Smotrich said something and therefore that’s the policy… does each single congressman’s individual views represent US policy? No, that’s not how it works and you know that. Back to facts, Ro

The Iranian killing of unarmed protestors is brutal and horrific. I have spoken out against the Iranian's regimes barbarism many times. Certainly, that is not the standard of comparison. Do you believe that Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir, & Smotrich's actions --calling explicitly to starve Gazans to get Hamas to surrender --were justified? To say that the government committed horrible crimes is not to implicate the people of Israel. But there must be accountability for the government.

@RoKhanna You also support antisemite Ms. Rachel so we're not surprised you're attempting to cut off Israel's ability to defend itself against Palestinian terrorists whose sole goal is to murder Jews and anyone in their way.

@RoKhanna Yet again - @RoKhanna used to be a facts guy but is now just political speak. Whether you agree with it or not, this isn’t just a “blank check” to Netanyahu, it’s just a tad more nuanced. When did we abandon facts for sweeping generalities? Bad stuff
