I’m going to be straight with you. As I see it, this is a study app. First of all, you’re trying to make money from students. Most students don’t have much money and generally prefer free apps. Secondly, I assume your app gets most of its downloads from countries like India, where monetization can be challenging. Third, it’s currently the off-season for students. Considering both the audience and the download sources, I think you’d be better off building an app for people who actually have money and are willing to pay for a solution.

Mobile apps are not easy. This is my first app's stats after 80 days. It has generated a total of $26 in revenue. - $5 MRR - $10 revenue - 1,942 active users Till now, I haven't started marketing. Everything is from ASO. Are these good or bad stats?

@nabati @athcanft It depends on your target country and audience. For example, you’re 99% unlikely to see a billing error for a golf app targeting a Tier 1 country because the audience is generally wealthier.

@athcanft For a lot of my Trials, I am seeing this "Billing Error" after trial expiration. Does this happen for you as well? Not sure if this is a market specific thing, bad quality traffic or something else.

3 things to know when running ads for your app: 1/ organic viral ≠ successful ad organic viral is basically free money, so conversion rate doesn’t matter that much - with ads the content needs to be designed for conversion to be profitable 2/ let it spend let every ad get at LEAST $50 of spend before even considering drawing a conclusion on whether it is successful - otherwise you’re guessing on natural variance 3/ variants are king when you find a winning format, absolutely milk the hell out of it, make tonnes of variants just changing the person in the video, or the hook caption, or the music - this is how agencies run the same format for years

I doubled my iOS apps revenue in April by removing the free trial. However, this led to a 26% decrease in MRR. I turned the free trial back on. My goal now is to collect as many free trials as possible while increasing my MRR.

I’ve been in Turkey (Istanbul) for the first time of my life. Some of my observations: - Istanbul is truly a city of contrasts between Europe and Asia. - While society is surprisingly young and more Western than one might expect, the presence of Islam is just as ubiquitous as that of Turkish nationalism. - I felt relatively comfortable there, though unfortunately it was too cold to use the pool. The food is good and affordable. - Istanbul has a rapidly developing infrastructure. IST Airport is huge, but unfortunately it’s quite far out of the city. - The people are very friendly; every taxi driver calls you "brother." - My hotel was near Taksim Square (Gezi Park)—the entire district (Beyoğlu) was closed off for May 1st. Since, unfortunately, many Turks really don’t speak English (especially taxi drivers and police), I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get to the hotel. In reality, nothing happens to you as long as you don’t act aggressively. I was able to get to the hotel normally despite the roadblocks. - The city has a truly unique location between the seas, the Bosphorus, and the mountains. Many streets are very winding. - The cost of living are low for someone from the West. As is well known, the lira is cheap. Taxi rides (1 hour) cost only 1,400 lira = €26. - What really surprised me as a European is how heavily regulated queer life is. There are no Pride flags, Grindr profile pictures are black, and clubs never give their real addresses. For a country that actually wants to join the EU, this is shocking.
