Glad to hear it! No, that doesn’t make sense to me. And it’s also not usually the case that employees at individual chain pharmacy stores (plenty of evidence of this for CVS) will know ahead of time what stock they’ll be receiving. Purchasing decisions and availability are all decided by corporate, and employees aren’t kept in the loop until the shipment actually arrives. I have no way of knowing, though, if maybe corporate does communicate with them, and most of them are just really poor at their jobs in contrast to your pharmacist. On a base level, though, it definitely doesn’t make sense. VaxServe representatives are saying this is the last batch (reddit.com/r/Novavax_vacc…), and I’d tend to trust their judgement because it’s a Sanofi subsidiary

@Biff234523 @mdashaldebaran Just got my Novavax from CVS in Mass. Pharmacist was surprised I knew the expiration date at end of May. She said after this batch expires, they would be getting new doses (same formulation) after that though. Does that make sense with what you know about supply?

It will be available again, yes, but more likely the fall rather than late summer. We’re also not 100% sure that there will be an update to the formulation. I would also say it’s very likely, but we don’t find out for sure until later next month after the WHO and FDA advisory committees (TAG-CO-VAC and VRBPAC) meet to give formulation guidance to manufacturers. If they do update, the release will be at least 3 months away, with the time it takes to manufacture. And then FDA needs to approve the updated products, and the CDC’s vaccine committee (ACIP) needs to sign off on guidance (which is currently disbanded after a court order), so that’s a whole mess that will need sorting out. I usually find myself on the other end of this conversation - reassuring folks that yes, even under the current administration, everything will be fine and updated vaccines will be coming. Which, yes, they will be. But the timing is very much up in the air, and so is the formulation. So, that information you were given just isn’t necessarily something that I would solely rely on to change your plan to get a spring booster. Keep in mind that Novavax boosters also stack on top of each other to shrink the antigenic range - essentially, your immune system sees all variants as being more similar to each other, which creates a more universal-like protection across variants. Which means that routine antigen updates matter much less with the Novavax platform than they do with mRNA.

I feel insane. We had the chance to STOP this law but no one cared. Now everyone cares after it went through. It’s terrible, but it’s also a lesson in why we need to actually stop and kill surveillance laws and government overreach on certain tech BEFORE it passes. Call ur reps!

Building in Save the World is pretty different from BR. Build a strong core of upgraded metal/stone walls around the objective, with trap tunnels outside of that to corral and thin out the approaching hordes. Then jump in with Hero weapons and abilities to finish any stragglers!
