Kids thrive on calm, not chaos. Schools where teachers have no authority cause anxiety, not schools where rules are clear and enforced. For children, nothing is more unsettling than feeling like no one’s in charge.

@Dorianlynskey Every time I see her I reflect on the fact that she decided to brand herself 'Britain's Strictest Head Teacher' — not Britain's best, not its most innovative, kindest or most effective. Smart choice. She knows what her demographic's fetish is.

You want to improve teacher recruitment? -Focus on school behaviour so they are spaces of calm, safety and dignity. You want to improve teacher retention? -Focus on behaviour, so the teaching space is purposeful and free from disruption. You want to support children with SEN? -Focus on behaviour, so that their environment is one where they can flourish. You want to focus on social justice? -Focus on behaviour so that children learn how to conduct themselves civilly and kindly to each other, and children from all social strata co-exist harmoniously. You want to promote inclusion? -Focus on behaviour so that exclusions are less necessary. No child flourishes in chaos, and the least advantaged child needs a calm, supportive school *more* than any other. Behaviour underpins all of these. The most inclusive and effective schools have: 1. A clearly taught Behaviour Curriculum 2. Support for those who need it 3. Clear boundaries and high expectations 4. Consequences for those who test those boundaries, ranging from mild penalties to pastoral interventions 5. High regard and high standards. It all comes back to their behaviour. If that’s not right, nothing else follows. -Focus on behaviour :)

You need to have a solid foundation of knowledge and understanding in order to analyse, evaluate and construct new ideas - otherwise it’s just your own uninformed thoughts. Even creativity is underpinned by a memorised body of knowledge

@Miss_Snuffy Learning expands our knowledge and ideas, connecting new ideas to the knowledge we already have. This happens when analyse, evaluate and construct ideas. What you are describing is memorizing. But you know that and just want to wind people up to create a buzz around your brand.

Real learning requires practice and drill. Practice and drill require time. Lots of it. Even modern textbooks need supplementing by a good teacher to achieve amount of practice needed. We underestimate how much practice is needed. You get good at what you do. So do it.👍🏽
