None of that would have been possible without Byron. Just last week, he continued to support the set up of my lab by sharing protocols and material. I have no doubt that he will live on in the work that we do, and there are more joint papers in the pipeline.

Incredibly sad news. Byron was a giant in his field and will be sorely missed. His support and willingness to make time for others was limitless, and I’d like to share one particular story about how he touched my life 🧵

A reminder that there is no such thing as the perfect biomarker. Lead with your clinical nose + in this case the rapid progression should prompt testing for alternative pathologies. Cortical ribboning has high sensitivity in CJD so not to miss, and send RT-QuIC for confirmation.

LRRK2 therapeutics are currently being trialled in PD as a disease modifying therapy. We believe that our findings will stimulate a lot of interest to extend this approach to PSP patients, with @ArvinasInc recently announcing their plans here: ir.arvinas.com/news-releases/… (6/7)
