If Edinburgh is serious about improving bus journey times, we must work with businesses to cut congestion in places like Morningside. It was good to see the shops so busy, but more reliable bus connections and wider footpaths in places would help boost the local economy. 👍

Could everyone in Edinburgh please RT this to maximise the chance of finding a witness of the incident? I suffered a head injury and broke a few teeth because of it and so far there has been no luck with any CCTV footage. The exact timing was more like 8:15am on that day

@kenny_mccartney @johnrobson87 @Cyclesouthedin @SW20Ed @CyclingEdin Many things wrong with the road design in Edinburgh. 1) a cycle lane isn’t segregated if you can’t get through junctions segregated. How can this be used by children? Junction is the most dangerous part. 2) Traffic island => a pinch point instead of a continuous zebra crossing.

@agordonsalive Looks like the vehicle had plenty of time to turn before you got there. Come back down to reality.

@Rob_Earl Good point - I don’t know. However, we’re being constantly told that AT schemes are delayed due to lack of time of officers dealing with implementation. I assume this will still require time of AT officers that fould bd invested elsewhere?

@EdinCyclist It's not their AT budget though, right? The general roads bit is coming from Edinburgh budget, the AT bit from scotgov. It does make you wonder why other Edinburgh junctions are so delayed if scotgov will give 50% for such minimal AT benefit.

Instead of improving pedestrian and cyclist safety at busy city centre junctions, the Edinburgh administration plans to spend £750,000 FROM THE ACTIVE TRAVEL BUDGET on an out-of-town A road junction with no connection to any other active travel infrastructure.
Dave French@DaveJFrench

@CllrScottArthur @alanpaxton @andykirkland71 @david_mccraw One of those ~40 incidents, one involved a pedestrian and one involved a cyclist. It's very not obvious that this should be a priority for active travel funding. For comparison, here's *only cyclist casualties* at the King's Theatre junction (project delayed ~10 years?)

@RamsayMurray @CyclingEdin This is shocking to hear - I hope nobody was seriously harmed. I doubt that those were “accidents”. When I learned driving I was told that it’s the driver’s responsibility to “not trust” kids in the same way you trust other road users and therefore take extra care around them.

@EdinCyclist @yplac_ed Yep you still will not say the cyclist should be charged. If you want any respect you have to callout both driver and cyclist for fairness. Yep cyclist tinted glasses indeed

@AndrewW12290183 @yplac_ed Punishment should be proportional to the danger caused. Impact from a car will likely be more severe than from a bike. I don’t think a driver gets a ban for running a red light once.

@EdinCyclist @yplac_ed Do we supply the same mentality to the cyclist ie a ban. Do you think he should be fined.

@EdinCyclist @yplac_ed Ok your calling for his or her head and you want them charged or even their license suspended. So what do we do here then👇👇👇 So would you charge him or is it cyclist tinted glasses on ?

@yplac_ed Or the driver could be picking up or dropping off someone who has mobility issues. Maybe need to wind back the "Hang them high" mentality
