New @CyclingScotland surveys recorded over 5,000 bikes on Victoria Rd in 48 hrs - with bikes outnumbering cars at all rush hour peaks. Fixed counter data shows strong growth too, including an 81% rise in cycling levels on the East City Way since 2021👇

Yesterday we seized stock from three businesses on Princes Street which were obstructing the footway. This confiscation came after repeated warnings.
We'll continue to enforce the rules and make sure our footways are clear and accessible for all.

@NewcastleCC when will you deal with this situation? If it's a worksite, fence it off. If not, prevent this behavior.

Update the quality cycle infrastructure on Leith Walk has been made less safe by CEC at Balfour Street tram stop headed north.
Caution needed as buffer now so slim there is little wiggle room for error. Hate to think what would happen if motor vehicles moving and clip the kerb.

@edinhelp can you confirm why there’s now a big notch in the Leith Walk cycleway northbound at Balfour St tram stop please? Looks very dangerous for cycles straying to the right? Was it not built right? Seems to have been fine for the last 2 years! @SpokesLothian @EdinReporter

he most requests have come in from people living on Easter Road; the largest waiting list is at West Montgomery Street with 100 people waiting for a spot in 2 hangars.

There are 1,500 people who have made a request for a hangar on their street and 2,900 people who are on a waiting list for an existing hangar.
Only 1,200 spots are currently provided - the same as last year despite promises to increase the number:democracy.edinburgh.gov.uk/documents/s768…

There are now 4,400 people waiting for a spot in a secure cycle hangar in Edinburgh - that figure has grown by nearly 1,000 in just the last year.

We are appealing for information following the serious assault of a 46-year-old male cyclist on Blackhall Cycle Path, near to Davidson Mains.
The incident took place around 6.05pm on Tuesday, 2 September, 2025.

(It's actually only 60%, because some households have more than one car...)
