I’ve seen the memes (funny!) and little criticisms (unnecessary) about these new monikers, but let’s be honest. Can you think of anything you’d want our young women to aspire to be as much as these? The old names were for earlier times (“Mutual Improvement Association …. Maids.” Mkay.) And then there were no aspirational titles at all. Personally, I look forward to a rising generation of mighty women who build faith, deliver hope, and gather light. What a gift we have in the programs of this Church. 🏆😊💪
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints@Ch_JesusChrist

The First Presidency has announced new age-group names for young women—names that reflect their identity, growth, and purpose. The new age-group names are: • Builders of Faith (young women turning 12 or 13) • Messengers of Hope (young women turning 14 or 15) • Gatherers of Light (young women turning 16 or older) Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman said the spiritual significance of the names became especially clear to her during a recent visit with young women in Tahiti. “As the girls sang, I was inspired to think of these covenant-keeping young women whose purpose and mission would be to build faith, share hope, and gather and reflect light around the world,” President Freeman said. “My eyes teared up as I realized the Spirit had been leading this process all along, inspiring names of faith, hope, and light that would help God’s daughters live as disciples of Christ and prepare them to enter a lifelong sisterhood of charity—the Relief Society.” Learn more by visiting the link below: newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/young-…

@BYUFlorida @RelevantQuest I don’t know what that means. If it’s that I’m somehow not supporting the church because I have an opinion-I mean that’s dumb. Get over yourself.

@NoblestCalling @ChunkBrah I teach in a Title 1 school (reading specialist) and many students experience the family trauma you talked about in your original post. But I have no doubt it’s happening in middle class areas too. Opoid addiction is at the root of a lot of it.

@EdmanSydnee @ChunkBrah Yep. My friend who teaches at an elementary school says they have to evacuate her classroom about once a month for some kind of violent outburst from a student. And this is just in a suburb!

I strongly believe that the breakdown in family structure is actually to blame for the increases in behavioral problems in schools. Kids who are acting out in crazy ways are not typically coming from overly neurotic mothers who gentle parent. They are coming from situations of trauma. I work primarily on juvi cases and a small minority of those kids come from intact families. Most of them have no father in the home, or an abusive father. Lots of kids with drug addicted parents getting into trouble. Lots of kids with very early p*rn exposure getting into trouble. Not kids whose parents were "too nice."

This is true. I’m a teacher too. I was just telling my husband the other day that I never remember kids having complete meltdowns-kicking, screaming, throwing things-when I was in elementary school. Word of that kind of behavior would’ve spread quickly and it would’ve been all anyone talked about. But it happens all the time where I teach.

@ChunkBrah The concerns I hear mostly about in schools are the extremes (throwing chairs in class, etc) or kids who won't stay off games and such on the Chromebooks/iPads (the schools fault for giving those to kids). What I hear from fellow parents and my brother who substitute teaches

Stole @matt_wickman’s idea for topical reading of the Book of Mormon. I’m doing “parenting” and I’m astounded at the messages of mercy. God has a plan for each of his children, he knows where they are, and he never forgets his promises to their fathers.

I’m all for dunking on Democrats for normalizing crazy, stupid, and ideologically dangerous, jackasses. It’s a fair and legitimate point. But to pretend or even imply this is just a problem with one of our parties is crazy, stupid, ideologically dangerous jackassery.

@EricLDaugh And the apathy starts to show itself. The midterms will be lost because people just cannot find the energy to get out and cast that vote. This is especially prevalent amongst republicans so how do they change it?

🚨 JUST IN: Florida Democrats score second upset of the night, FLIPPING State Senate District 14 in the Tampa Bay area by around 400 votes Brian Nathan (D) defeats Josie Tomkow (R) by less than one percentage point, in the Trump+7 seat MAJOR target for GOP to flip back in November. Worth noting that while all this happens, the legislative session in Florida has already ended, and bills already passed. Republicans hoping for powerful comeback later this year to cancel it all out

Earlier this week, there seemed to be a great freak out from the woke right. They doubled down defending Steve Bannon, attacking anyone who questioned Joe Kent, etc. I think, after seeing nobody show up at the Catholics for Catholics event, the theory many of us had is true. These guys believed their own bullshit. They got convinced they were the majority. They built an echo chamber and got high on their own supply. They've used bots to amplify their reach, drive up viewer numbers, etc. Here comes the polling that MAGA supports the President, the public hates Iran, and the GOP opposes anti-semitism. Turns out their chief puppet master was Jeffrey Epstein's bestie. Also turns out they were not Trump's puppet masters as they presumed they were. Now they're lashing out. We've got the Steve Bannon defenses. We've got them trying to elevate Joe Kent, in what has clearly been coordinated with foreign media entities. And at the end of the day, what I need some of you to see is that it was never Qatar underwriting this. It is and has always been people in Russia. Alexander Dugin promoting all this stuff with the scientology freak in England sort of gives away the game.

Barbra Streisand’s tribute to Robert Redford literally brought me to tears. I did not expect her to break out into song but when she did, it totally broke me. This has been an exceptionally emotional #Oscar night but done with absolute class & thoughtfulness. What a moment.

Candace and Tucker yes, but not Megyn. Calling Megyn a coward at Turning Point was a poor choice by Ben, much worse than what she did. It provoked her. And at that point she hadn’t said anything, she just would t condemn T&C. If you care about the right you should be concerned about the effect the infighting is having on our electoral chances and it’s not just Megyn’s fault.

Well I’m only one person but I have never listened to Ben or Mark. I was more familiar with Ben. I’m not Jewish, but Tucker and Candace ARE Jew haters. Period. They’re both disgusting antisemites who long ago crossed the line from difference of opinion into vile vilification of a group already being disproportionately targeted for violence. There really is no excuse to run cover for them. They are right that there’s no room in the conservative movement for Jew haters and that people who aren’t calling it out are wrong. The left let their crazies run wild and it ruined them. I don’t agree that anyone went after her for friendships. She loves to call people out and at a certain point there became an undeniable pattern of who she was calling out and who she wasn’t, and it wasn’t based on “friendships”. She called Ben a liar (even though he was right) way before he called her out directly. And several people have said they’ve tried to speak to her privately and she threw at least one of them under the bus for it. She’s cut ties with quite a few former “friends” over this. She deserves every bit of vilification she’s getting.

@flowerlady61 @bethanyshondark And if you’d read my post correctly you would have seen that I said Megyn was wrong. If you care about the right at all you should recognize the incredible damage people like Mark Levin are doing as well.

X probably isn’t a good place for me to discuss all my mixed feelings over this subject. TL;DR-Megyn is wrong and I disagree with her over Israel, but before she said anything provocative these ppl went after her over her friendships, not for anything SHE did. Mark Levin is an extremely popular and powerful radio host who calls Kelly and anyone else who doesn’t agree w him Jew Haters and worse. And he’s never been taken to task for it by his own side, the side ironically I am on! Ben Shapiro wants to step into the vacuum left by Charlie? Don’t get on a podcast and call names. No leadership.

I think you’re just seeing people who were FANS of Megyn upset at what she’s become. I’ve called her out a lot as a former daily listener. I’ve never once listened to Mark Levin, and barely knew who he was before this. I couldn’t have picked his photo out of a lineup. I don’t really care what he does for the most part, because it just isn’t on my radar. She was, and I’m pretty horrified with her lack of discernment.
