The NEA and its 3 million members proudly rise in solidarity with @UAW. UAW members are our neighbors, the family members and parents of our students, and fellow workers. They deserve a fair contract. Period.

@mikek434 @JessicaBartnick @FixingEducation Perplexing when people compare their own careers to teaching. Try dealing with everything you are dealing with at work then attempt to do it while managing 20-40-120 children at the same time.

@EducationP101 @JessicaBartnick @FixingEducation This is a fun game. I have a doctorate degree in a health care field, 17 yrs experience, & have never made $100k/yr. I deal with evil insurance, evil corporations, extremely ill patients, angry families, & physical labor that leaves me in chronic pain. How much should I make?

@TiffanyNews3LV @News3LV So admin got their raises. Support staff received raises. But teachers will require arbitration and probably 6-9 months to get paid. Seems about right.

We’re back at the table, and educators are standing strong to ensure we get the contract we deserve and that every student has a licensed teacher in their classroom! #CCEAStrong

@octorom @JessicaBartnick @FixingEducation Oh it does suck. The establishment has relied for too long on intimidation and retaliatory tactics toward teachers who didn't conform to the whims of poor leadership in education. Then teachers are scolded by the public for not "putting children first" when we advocate.

@EducationP101 @JessicaBartnick @FixingEducation Teaching in 2023 sucks, but pay isn't the issue if their contact says they're making over $45/hr.
Teachers choosing to work for free and volunteering to pay for supplies out of pocket is the bigger problem.
Somehow we got to the point where that's the norm, it needs to stop.

@octorom @JessicaBartnick @FixingEducation What's ridiculous is that the United States government spends billions of tax-payer dollars annually to bail out banks, corporations, and other countries yet people in our own country disparage teachers for demanding safe working conditions and adequate compensation.
English

@EducationP101 @JessicaBartnick @FixingEducation That's ridiculous, they're overpaid as is. Remember teachers in the USA are usually working just 180-190 days / yr.
62k working 7 hours a day for 190 days translates to over $46/hr!
English

@octorom @JessicaBartnick @FixingEducation Public schools and the public can no longer rely on underpaid female labor. At one time teaching offered something unique and special to people who were drawn to a career where family could also be prioritized. Schools don't have another 2 decades to "figure it out."
English

@EducationP101 @JessicaBartnick @FixingEducation The job might not be easy, but teachers need to stop complaining about salary. Working your hours is doable if you're efficient.
Stop working for free and get a part time gig in the summer. Problem solved.

Women now have more career options.
Is that why they are leaving the teaching profession? #K12BigIdeas edweek.org/teaching-learn…

Here is my school photo from kindergarten @GalltKelley and @TonySandersSupt. My smile is dimmed because I had lost my mother to a drunk driver 6 months before. The love & attention my teacher Mrs. Rounthwaite showed me that year was life-changing. I ❤️her forever. #ThankATeacher
